Today I bought one of the Paul series from Lone Wolf; the Prankster in G-10. I've read a few posts about the lock not engaging fully and the blade having significant play, and I bought one anyway after I checked for these problems. The knife I bought has no blade play at all, and everything locks up solid.

Is there a "breaking in" period that I should watch out for? I.e. if there were a problem, would it have surfaced already, or am I fighting a losing battle in trying to keep the knife functionally perfect?

You should have no problems with that knife. Let the knife work itself in! :)

I've had a Gerber Paul knife for over 10 yrs. and never had a problem with the lock or blade play. I do'nt know much about the Lone Wolf version of Paul's axial lock but the lock is very complicated. Thats one of the reasons that Gerber stoped making them 2 times. In the late 70's and again in the 90's.
