Have seen Lone Wolf knives reviewed here but (could have missed it) haven't seen anything on the "Paul" mechanism; just got the latest A.G. catalog and he lists a number of different Lone Wolf "Pauls" it reawakened my interest. Would appreciate any comments/reviews by those with experience with them.

I think the Lone Wolf versions of the oringinal Paul are very well made but tiny.

I would go for the Prankster instead which uses the same locking mechanism (Paul) and slightly different handle shape but larger overall (normal sized) with a 154CM clip point blade

The LoneWolf Paul series are nice, and well built. I have a couple. I don't see them as good EDC knives, but the lock mechanism is very interesting. I have a few of the Gerber Paul Knives from many years ago. If I recall, they discontinued the original Gerber Paul knives due to the expense of making them.

Very addictive mechanism.
I just re-bought a Ritter Mk4.
Coolest Gents knife ever.

Anyone experienced any blade wobble? read a few reports here about the new Defender arriving tight, but after a week or so it developed blade play horizontally and vertically, and apparently there is no way to self adjust. The Defender really caught my eye, but I'm afraid to purchase due to the bad reports I've read.

IIRC, I think the Defender took top honors at Blade for production knife of the year. That speaks volumes, in my book.

Please, someone correct me, if I'm wrong.

I'm looking at the G10 Prankster as a possible next knife purchase.

Daniel

The Defender did take those honors. For that reason I can't understand the lock problems I've read about, unless it was only those few I read about, or those were first runs, and the blade play issue has been resolved. I really like the look of the Prankster.:D

I re-bought a Paul after returning one because of 'blade play'.

It wasn't that bad. I was going through a bank vault or nuth'in phase at the time.

The mechanism was good enough to make me overlook a little play and buy another one, after all, they are used on gents/ EDC knives, not hard use designs.

My new one started out with a little bit of play in it. It hasn't gotten any worse with time.
