Thinking of buying a LoneWolf T2. I would like your honest opinions first. Any info on these kinves would be helpful. Im most interested in how strong the lock is on them. Thanks
Wade

I've been carrying mine daily for a year now. I consider it the best EDC I've EVER owned, even like it better than a Sebenza. Mine has the cocobolo handles, which I love the look of. The blade, handle, materials, everything is perfect for me. It took a hellacious beating daily during the construction season, and still stood up fine. The liner lock just the other day started slipping a tiny bit. Took the knife apart, tweaked it out a little bit...now it's as rock solid as it was on day one, with about three minutes work.

That being said....I have heard LOTS of rumors of LW having quite a few QC issues. If I were you, I'd either want to handle it before buying it. (mine was worth the few extra bucks I paid at a store) or order it from a place with a real good reputation for return policies.

Lots of good reading: Scroll up and click on "Search" Type in, Lone Wolf T-2. Then "GO"

I have said it before in other threads, but its worth repeating, I haven't seen a bad one yet. The only LW knife I had to send back was a Loveless folder that had some damage to the Micarta. These are made in Italy though not the US.

IMHO the T2 is about as good as you can get for an EDC. First, it's made off 'all things nice' S30V, Titanium & Cocobolo (Whats not to like? :) ) It's pretty light and the lock up is rock solid. The grinds are excellent and the finish on the Cocobolo is wonderful, in the world of sheep that we regreetably live it, it's not as 'threatening' as say G-10. The nylon scaled ones are pretty nice too, but the Cocobolo is worth the extra.

To me, these are the most under talked about knives on this forum.

The lone wolf t-2 is one of my favorite knives, the lock up is solid and the grip is comfortable.

It's a simply awesome knife and way underrated in my opinion. I have the cocobolo handle version as well. It's as solid knife and looks great too.

I also think it is a very good knife, S30v it holds an edge real well, and it gets crazy sharp, if you like the way it holds you'll love the knife.

The blade shape is one of the best around for edc imo, and talk about a serious slicer. Comfy handle too, and I've had no problems with the lock.

Well it seems that no one had a bad thing to say about this knife. But it seemed that most of you owned one with the wood handle. What are your thoughts about the black ?G10? scales? What is perfered and why the cocobolo or black scales? Does one have better grip than the other or is it just for looks? I am interested in this as more of a tatical knife and EDC.
Thanks, so far you all have been very helpful

Its not G-10 but a type of Nylon. There is nothing wrong with it and its not like its as slippery as a fish. The Cocobolo is just so nice too look at, this is probably why its more popular. Like some people I am tired of black on black and spec ops orientated stuff. I like this because its a new design without the hype of slashing car doors to ribbons.

I just saw the walnut handle option, WOW, I like the looks of that one. Anyone have one or anything to add. And I am curious what everyone thinks as far as cocobolo vs. walnut? ad/disadvantages? Or is it just what I think looks better? Also, anyone know where I would go to get custom handles made? Thanks for everything so far.

Couldn't tell ya' the difference between the two woods. Did think to mention though, that one idiosyncracy I've experienced with my wood handle was that it got scratched and dinged up pretty badly. But...as I've said, I used it very, very hard. (lots of exposure to mud, rocks, being dropped, cutting very heavy duty materials, neglected, pried with, rained, and snowed on, etc.) The first day I was laid off from construction season I took the T-2apart, cleaned it with firearms bore cleaner and WD-40, mirror polished the blade and other metal parts, stripped the clearcoat off my handles and re-did it. Now it looks good as new. Only took a couple hours of actual work- If you could call it that. It was actually pretty fun, and a neat way to mark the end of the construction season.

I got the wooden handle because it's pretty, and like Temper said, it's a damned refreshing change in the world of blacktical tactical. It does have the added benefit of looking less scary to sheeple. If you were to absolutely split hairs it's probably a tiny bit less grippy than the black handles, but...it is easier to wipe off as well. I've got severe tendonitis (read weak grip) and I've used mine with blood, oil, and water all over my hands and have never had a problem with grip slippage.

As far as other highpoints on it:

The flat drop point blade on it is extremely versatile. Haven't found a folding knife job yet I couldn't do well with the blade.

It rides a little high in the pocket...I think of it as a good thing, it's that much easier for me to access when working. In small town Alaska concealments not an issue for me.

Lanyard hole...nice touch, just cause I like lanyards.

The cut outs/serrations on the top of the handle (thumbrest area) and the back of the handle make the knife comfortable and secure in most any grip, except for pikal, and It's not designed as a fighting knife anyways.

lightweight for it's size.

rock solid lock up, and tight as can be. Also very smooth and easy opening.

Ambi-thumb studs.

It's not so much one major feature or another that makes the T-2 great, but a culmination of lots of small things that really bring it together. You can plainly see where ALOT of practical thought was put into this design.

It's an awesome knife and surprisingly light for it's size, thanks to the wood handle and all the titanium. Here's a picture I took of mine:

The only similar knife I like more is my Sebenza. The T2 has a good lock. The blade is rigid when open. The blade shape is the best. The grip is just right and it holds an edge. Well worth the money!!

I have the t-2 is the zytel (the black) scales, I think most people prefer the cocobolo for the looks.

NO. 4 and 5 inch blades only. Anyone have anything to say about the micarta handles? My RAT-7 has them and I like them alot, but are they just as good on the T-2?

Actually they are only on the Tactical Combat. The Ranger doesn't have any different options. The T-2s have more options but no micarta. Go figure...
