Hi,

Can somebody tell me the difference between the Lone Wolf Harsey Tactical Folder and the Lone Wolf Harsey T3 Tactical folder ?

And, what's the general opinion about those knifes ?

Regards,

Andre Tiba - Brazil

Lone wolf has three classes of harsey tactical folders. the main difference between the three is size.

T1 - 3.2 inch blade
T2 - 3.9 inch blade
T3 - 4.8 inch blade

The T3 Tactical Ranger hasa flat ground blade with no false edge or serrations. The T3 Tactical Folder has partial serrations and a false edge.

I've had a T2 for a while now and love the thing. I know that some folks like to harp on about Lone Wolf having QC problems in the past, but as far as I can see they must be just that.... In the past.
My T2 is as tight as any locking folder that I've ever owned and is a solid and dependandable tool.
I like it so much that I recently bought myself the T3 Tactical Ranger (I like the flat grind as on the T2) and no sooner had it arrived than I realised I had spent my money wisely.
The T3 is a brute of a knife. Fit and finish are excellent and lock-up is solid asa rock with no discernable play at all. You need big hands to make the T3 work properly for you though. A 'normal' 4 3/4" or 5" fixed blade handle disappears in my ham-like fist, but the T3 is a comfy 'user' for me.
If you get the chance to handle a T3 before buying I'd advise doing so as I can see that it might not be everyones "cup of tea" especially if their hands are not big enough to make full use of the big handle. If the T3 proves a little over-the-top for you I can guarantee that the T2 will be perfect.

The flat ground blades of these knives make them hellish good slicers, and being well H/T'd CPM S30V means that they take a wickedly sharp edge, and they hold it too. I sat for 6 hours whittling a few items out of oak with mine a few weeks back and could still shave arm hair easily at the end of the day with my T2.
Both my T2 and the T3 came shaving sharp out of the box, but as I always do with any new knife, the first thing I did was to put a small, highly polished, convexed secondary bevel on them to make edge maintenance easy in future. It works !

Edit to add : A few weeks back Imanaged to lose one of the screws that hold the pocket clip onto my T2. Being in the UK I was unable to source identical replacement screws, so I contacted Lone Wolf to see if I could buy some.
They refused to SELL me any, they simply asked my name and address so they could send me some F.O.C. !
Despite this needing international mailing the screws arrived as promised only 5 days after they had my address !
At last, a "Customer Service Dept" that actually gives customers service instead of excuses and price lists !

Agreed, I was VERY impressed with Lone Wolf's customer service, they even called me at home to make sure I was happy!

Just got to fondle a T3 at the Blade West show yesterday. It felt real good and fit and finish was excellent. Has some history being developed for a military group of some kind. DO AGREE IT'S A BEAST OF A KNIFE. IF YOU HAVE A GOOD SIZE MITT AND LIKE LARGE FOLDERS THIS KNIFE IS FOR YOU.

I',m 5'7" but LOVE big carry folders. I've been a Spyderco Military for years now IWB and love it. But I see the T3 is almost twice as thick and twice the wieght of my Spyderco. Can I resonably carry the T3 In the waistband?

I've got 2 T2's; a Ranger and a Tactical.

With a 3.9 inch blade, and at 5.2 oz. they are a great carry.

Absolutely terrific knives.

I may have to get a T-2. I have a T-1 tactical & absolutely love it. I'm not sure about the T-3, but a T-2 Tactical Ranger would be nice for those times that I want something bigger.
