Lonewolf Landslide Orange - what's the deal with this knife?

It's out of stock on some sites, and pre-order only on others. From what I gather, Lone Wolf was bought by Benchmade??? so I can't find it "in stock" but at a few places online.

I like a lot about this knife from what I see (I'm not really familiar with N680 steel other than it is supposed to be highly corrosion-resistant and has been compared to X-15 TN steel that Benchmade uses).

Does anyone own this knife that can post a little more detailed pics than what I can find online?

Anyone have any info on it? Does it have liners? How's the lockup? How does it hold-up to regular-duty cutting? Any QC issues?

Lone Wolf was bought out by BM a few years ago. they still have a decent line up if you ask me.

As to N680, I have a BM 111 Folder in this steel and it performs similarly to the old BM 440c with significantly better rust resistance. quite adequate for EDC usage IMO.

I also would be interested in hearing about this knife

Interestingly the BM site seemed to have them in stock (plain or combo, I forget), when I was last there...

The Benchmade Monochrome uses the same steel, I think, and I've heard good things about it. I like the looks of the Landslide, I think Lonewolf still has some pretty good knives on the market.

Well, I just ordered one. It'll be here in a few days and I'll let everyone know what I think. If I hate it, I'll probably just sell it and pick up that Cold Steel American Lawman I've been thinking about so much. This one just struck me as a have to have because it's not available anymore and because it's Orange.

It came in yesterday (super-fast shipping from Midway) and it is actually a very nice knife.

It's molded FRN with lightened (hollowed out) scales and a partial liner for the pivot and lock-bar-pivot. I'll be honest, I didn't care for the hollow-sounding loud "clack" when you close the Griptilian, but this isn't nearly as bad (I can't explain why - it is a different sound, but it still sounds "hollow).

I can't honestly come up with a reason to dislike this knife. I really like pretty much everything about it. It could probably use a bit more texture to add to the grippiness, and I wish it came with full-length liners, but it is really a very functional back-lock folder.

The blade is 3.5" long, but it feels smaller due to the longer handle-to-blade ratio (if that makes any sense). Tip-up carry only, but left/right options.

Overall, it's a very nice folder for $65. I'm impressed enough to start looking into other Lone Wolf knives that I can snag before they're not around anymore (and I'm most likely going to pick up a Lone Wolf/Benchmade Swale pretty soon).

Lone Wolf's by Benchmade appear to be a good value for dollars spent. I don't think they are anywhere near the quality of the originals which are now commanding scalpers prices. Have you
checked out the D-2, T-2, AND T-3'S?

So Lonewolf knives are disappearing again?

The Landslide looks cool, too bad I guess and of course how cool would it be if Lonewolf made the T series again.
They would sell alot i bet.

Thanks for the overview, EZB. I've been interested in this knife for some time now, but there is just so little about it. It seems like a win to me: simple construction, high quality materials, and a proven form factor all at a reasonable price.

Not to sound ungreatful, but could it be possible to see some pictures and size comparisons of the knife?

I would love to hear more people's thoughts on these BM/LoneWolf Landslides.

You just don't read/hear much about 'em..

For the lazy people

Does any one know what the guts of this knife are made from? the N680 is said to be very corrosion resistant, potentially comparable to H1 or X15-TN. It would be nice if the entire knife were corrosion resistant with guts made from N680 H1 or even just 420J which wouldn't cost much. any info out there?

Ive got Benchmades in both N680 and X15TN. The N680 steel has proved itself to be very corrosion-resistant. Ive used my Triage as my work edc for almost a year and the blade still looks like new, despite me not taking care of the blade in any way.

My X-15TN Griptilian has been used as my saltwater fishing knife. Its been used extensively for cleaning fish and i rinse it with saltwater afterwards, and not a speck of rust has showed.

I dont know about the innards on the Landslide, but my Griptilian H20 has 420J liners. I suspect the Landslide is the same.

In addition to the lockbar and spring, the landslide only has a partial liner near the pivot, kind of like a griptillian, but much much smaller, the rest is just the handle material. I can't say what the matal is, though.

I have a Landslide...makes for a great scandi style folder. The blade should never rust on you given minimal care or freshwater rinses after salt use. It's lightweight, takes a great hair popping edge and holds it well. The blade is a basic half flat grind to a secondary bevel as it comes from the box, but normal light stropping rapidly turns that into a very repeatable and useful convex. Lockup is tight and inspires confidence, but remember that any folder can fold. The fiberglass reinforced handle is durable and light as said, with only a partial liner for the lockup. I do not see this as a drawback.

I wanted a useable folder for woods bumming and that is what I got. I carry a fixed blade for heavier chores and this carries as if it's not there weight wise for light duty chores and food prep.

It's a win...
