Hi folks. Just bought a DVD of "Under Siege" for $5.88 from Walmart and got a jolt from that scene where he pickes up a cooking knife and throws it at a big wooden circle on the wall.

Or at least, I used to *think* it was a cooking knife. 'Pon seeing it again on DVD I realized it is one of those ubiquitous Gil Hibben throwers that we probably all have screwed with at some point! :D I got a kick out of seeing that. It was on Ryback's cutting board next to his chef's knife and some chopped celery. I found it a little funny that I had not noticed that it was not a real kitchen knife when I had seen the movie previously. Later on in the film, when Ryback kills an enemy soldier with a throw to the neck, the knife is pulled out bloody by Tommy Lee Jones' character, who proclaims, "This is not the work of a *cook*!" Heh. I suppose not. :)

Anyone here pick out that knife when the movie was new in '92?

Segal also uses a Gerber Mark II at the end of the movie to cut up Tommy Lee Jones.

The knife you are talking about is the one he throws into the wall and tommy lee Jones say's this ain't no cooks knife.

The knife is a Hibbon thrower, I hope I spelled his name right. It was designed by Gil Hibbon and was sold sometimes in a set. The price for the set was usually in the $20.00 buck range. U.S Cav had them for a while in their catalog.

Actually Tommy Lee Jones uses the Mark II. Segal wrests the knife away with one of his super-dooper-I-know-karate moves and firmly plants it in Tommy Lee's skull.

You can buy that knife, well a set of three of them for $31.99 at uscav.com. And yes I spelled the knife designer's name wrong, it is Gil Hibben.

Thanks. Yeah, I got one of those Hibben throwers a few years back, that's why I recognized it when watching the movie this time but not when I first saw it (before I bought the knife). Hibben has several sizes of that knife, but I have what I think is the large size. I can't see the small one sticking well, as light as it is.

I just wish I had somewhere to *throw* the darned thing. I rent, and don't have a yard. (And my place is too cluttered to risk it indoors! heehee)

I just ordered a Cold Steel Torpedo and can't wait to see if it feels in the hand as cool as it looks in a picture! Again, I sure wish I had somewhere to throw this stuff!

Segal uses a Mission Knife & Tool knife to cut up the bad guy in Under Seige 2. The bad guy in that one uses a Gerber. It was just on USA or something the other day.

Oh yeah, that was Tommy Lee Jones in the first one too. There was a grey haired bad guy in part 2, don't know his name.

I know it's 20 years later, but you are incorrect, sir. Seagal kicks the pistol out of Tommy's hand and throws him over a table loaded with catering trays. Mr. Jones then immediately picks up the butcher knife he was using earlier in the movie to cut up meat and Seagal pulls the Mk2 out of the sheath on his hip. At the end of the fight, Seagal bites the blade of the butcher knife to immobilize it, freeing his hand to ram his thumb into Tommy's eye before planting the MK2 into the top of his head and ramming him into a radar screen...
I may or may not have watched this movie a few hundred times...
