I decided to try something bit different, and this is the result.

This knive is inspired by WW2 era puukkoknives finnish soldiers carried in war.

Blade is 170mm long, forged from old spring of plow. Grip is made from curly birch, treated with linseed oil and bolster is made from 5mm thick brass plate. Sheath from 1,8mm barked leather with alder liner inside.

Unfortunately this is the only pic I took and this big guy is already sold.

That's a beauty and I love long puukko with handles that a big hand can grip solidly under hard use.
There are so many uses and aesthetically it seems very balanced to me when it's longer.
Really nice. Great sheath too. Wish you had more pictures.

Thank you! :)

Beautiful job on the grind and symmetry.

Its not easy keeping a blade that long to look ''centered'' off the handle.

I would consider upgrading the steel to at least 80crv2 though :)

I actually bought that stuff (5x35mm plate, about 1 meter) some years ago, but I haven't tried it yet. I'm going to try to make leuku/stuorra-niibi from it.
