Here is a sheath that was influenced by Paul Long. When I saw a couple that he had "Quilted", I just had to try one. Well, it still ain't a Paul Long, but I am fairly happy with it.

The knife is forged from 1084 and has a slightly tapered tang with Black Linen Micarta scales, stainless handle bolts, and a Mosaic pin.

OAL - 8 1/2"
Blade Tip to Handle - 4 1/4"

Thanks for looking.............. Robert

That looks great Robert. I'm hoping to see you up at Batson's Hammer In this weekend. I'll only be there Friday night though.

Man, I think it looks great. Love how you got the dyes to fade into one another like that.

nice work Robert. Is the sheath pattern a seeder and swivel knife lines?

Thanks.......No, the lines were made with a dull awl, and the center dots (where the lines cross) were done with a "nail-set" punch.

Really hi-tech equipment.:D

Very nice. The quilting looks great, and the darker finish on the quilting makes it stand out.

Really good looking knife and sheath Robert. Proof that it is not the eqipment, but the talent using it.

I like the color of the stitching too!! Nice Job :)

Thanks Ryan. It was good to see you at Batson's, and best wishes on your tour in Camel-Land. I'll be thinking of you, and if you get the opportunity, get on-line and let us know how its going.

Truly a nice combo. Makes me want to grab some scrap leather and give it a try.

Go for it. I was talking to Kenny Rowe yesterday while watching him do some pretty intricate carving on a sheath. The first thing he told me was "It ain't rocket science, so go for it".

You did a great job on that sheath.

Keith....... I don't know you sir, but may I say that I appreciate your comments. This is not the first time you have commented on my work, and as a "Collector", you always seem to find the time to comment on us little guys..........You probably won't find my knives posted in that "OTHER" forum, but from a strugling maker, I say "Thanks".

Thanks Harry. You and Charlie blow the doors off of my attempts at leather work. Hope to see you guys soon.

Thanks for the comments from the rest of you guys. Regardless of what some folks think, "Kumbaya's" really do make you want to work harder, and constructive critisim helps you to re-think your whole methodology.

Robert, looks great and I think I may use that to spice up some of my sheaths. I'll give you and Paul credit though.... "Long Dark Quilt" :p

I am making 7 sheaths today or at least ?? So will have to give that a try on one of my sidekick belt loops.
