I took a couple of days to play with my TC Encore, 22-250 rem. I missed a few groundhogs but made a few shots at medium to long range. The pic is one at 130 yds. I made another at 170 and 257 yds. Anybody else do some spring/summer varmint hunting, feel free to post pics.

Never made it out west to do any dog hunting. Would love to. I know you can heat up a barrel real quick doing it. :D
My longest shot to date is 450 yds. with this gun and 390 yds. with a TC Encore 15" pistol in 243 cal.

How do you like the Encore. I've always wanted a hunting rifle and can't really decide between one of those or a 700 bdl. There's just something I like about single shots. Reminds me of muzzle loaders without the extra maintenance. Any comments on pros and cons?

I'll put it this way, if I could only own one gun, it would be the Encore. Next to the Contender, it's my favorite. Like TC says, one gun to do it all. You can have one frame and set it up with different barrels to hunt every game animal on the planet. The only con is one shot at a time. I have a 20 gauge slug barrel for deer hunting.

I havent taken anything this year yet....Havent been out to take anything though. :(

Great pic Scott. Those .22-250s are nice rifles. Good to see you got some time to use it this year...

Scott, good looking Encore. With the proper bullets the .22-250 is supposed to be a pretty good deer gun also...

I just got finished picking up the pieces I need to put together a .270 Win Encore. Looking forward to playing with it this fall!

Tom, I've heard that about the 22 250 for deer. Unfortunately Maryland doesn't allow the use of 22 caliber centerfires for deer. Besides, my county is shotgun only. I use a 20 gauge rifled slug barrel on the Encore. Winchester Platinum Tip slugs knock down deer quite well. It's basically a 260 gr. handgun bullet in a shotgun shell.
Have fun with that 270. When I deer hunted York county Pa. way back in the early 80's, I used a 270. 150 gr. Nosler Partitions. Great combo.
