long term rust protection

hi all, i have a Kabar USMC FK, 1095 steel etc. It is not really getting used and i only take it out of the box to peek at it every now and then. It is coated so only the edge needs protecting but it does rust quite quickly even when i apply oil which seems to wear off after a few days.

Is there some kind of wax compound, not too ugly, or long lasting substance i can put on there so i can really leave it for say a month or longer without checking in on my baby

Renaissance Wax gets the most mention, and apparently it's used in a lot of museums and so on.

Birchwood Casey makes a product called "Sheath" which is very good...I think they changed the name to "Barricade"...Same thing, different name...It works really well....Good Luck... :thumbup:
