Long Term Storage of GEC Knives

I have been collecting GEC knives for several years. Really enjoy the traditional patterns and great workmanship. But the way things have been going with the brand, between the mad scrambles for new releases and less than desirable actions by some, my interest in collecting these things has waned. Only purchased two GEC knives this year.
Custom folders are now my main focus.
I decided to keep out some of the knives I enjoy most, the rest will go into long term storage. At this point I regularly inspect and treat my knives with Renaissance wax. It has kept them in perfect condition.
I know that knives stored in the tubes for longer periods have been known to suffer some corrosion. Since this will involve several hundred knives, it would be great to find a way to store them with a minimal need for maintenance. Anyone have experience with this?

I store mine in an air tight pelican case and toss a couple silica packets in to help remove any moisture that was present while closing. I make sure I clean them before storing as well.

Well…i store them on a micro fiber cloth on a shelf…
Where i live we don’t much humidity in the air or other things that would cause them to rust.

I am however still in search of a ‘better’ ‘good’ way to store them.

I used to store mine on a shelf in my closet as well but realized that some of my knives started to develop spots. Once I started using the pelican case and silica I have had no problems at all. They make some pretty large cases you can store a hundred knives or so, I have outgrown mine which is a smaller one and it holds 42 knives.

Thanks for the advice. I’ll look into those!

A lot of mine sit in a cigar boxes to reduce moisture or humidity exposure. certainly need to consider some silica packets.

Sealed/Semi Sealed display case with a can of silica or two per shelf for moisture control?
