I have purposely stayed away from the forum for quite a while now (I didn't want to be tempted). I had to go on disability and sell all of my higher end knives. I kept some knives to use, but not many.

Years later, here I am. I just bought another paid membership and have decided to sell all of my knives, a flashlight and a watch... all so I can have just one knife. I have decided it is going to be a CRK. I am not sure which one though.

I have owned pretty much all of the CRK offerings and have decided either the Mnandi, or small/large Sebbie. I just found out about the 31 too. I like the specs, but am worried about the lock rock. Of course, I never push on my blade on the non sharpened side anyway, so I am not too worried about it.

So, I am torn on what to get. The large fits my hand perfectly, but the small edc's so well. Oh, and that Mnandi is just sexy. What do you guys think I should get? Post pics too if you want.

If it were me, I’d go Large 21 if you can find one. I enjoy using mine :) The 31 isn’t bad, but I strongly prefer the 21 over the 31 (so much so, that I’ll get rid of my 31 in favor of the 21)

If the large fits you perfectly, get a large again. I've never held a small (only large) but the only reason I'd get a small would be if local laws restricted blade lengths to 3". Never held a Mnandi. They look great but way too small for anything I'd buy.

If you are only buying one and you note the large Seb fits your hand, I would recommend going for a Sebenza as opposed to a Mnandi simply based on handle sizes as the Mnandi probably will not fit your hand nearly as well. My two primary EDCs are a Small and Large Sebenza 21 Insingo with solid carbon fiber slabs (the Knife Art ones), and I strongly prefer this blade to the other two CRK styles (and just about any other blade shape, for that matter.)

This is from another thread I posted to...

What do you prefer about the 21 over the 31? On paper, the 31 made some welcomed changes.

I have never used the Insingo blade. It looks kind of goofy in pics. What do you all like about it?

The large Sebenza would be my choice for having only one knife. If I whittled down my collection it would be the last knife to go. I don’t find the larges are too big for pocket carry, and they fill the hand so much nicer than the small size. The small size is no slouch, but I find I carry my larges 90% of the time.

The micarta feel in hand
The feel of blade deployment
The way the pocket clip sits on the knife (feel in hand)
Honestly... aesthetics also

Pictures say...some high numbers or sumtin.

Though the Mnandi is super nice, if you like the size of the large Sebenza it won’t work well as your only knife IMO. I really like my 31, but there are a lot more variations of the 21 around and they will be slightly less expensive.

What 31 do you have? Any lock rock?

I have a Large 31 natural micarta. If I push hard enough, like literally putting my weight against it, I can get it to wiggle some. Nothing I would have noticed if I had not been a part of the Lock Rock thread. It doesn’t bother me and wasn’t a deal breaker on the knife itself. It settled down just a bit over time.

Predominantly, I prefer the 21 because I can get it in an Insingo, whereas I cannot with the 31. I'd love a 31 with an Insingo in the future.

Don't get me started on the Insingo's looks lol. I think it is the goofiest looking blade ever on a folding knife. It looks clumsier than a drunk flamingo, and there isn't an ounce of pretty to it. I always have thought and still thinks it gets a 0 out of 10 in the cosmetics department.

From a performance perspective though, it is something very special. Like a traditional wharncliffe, it's an extremely potent slicer and working on a single plane means you can get really precise in work requiring tip and you can make straighter cuts freehand. Unlike a wharncliffe, it has enough belly to get the job done where you want some belly. It has tremendous tip strength, but the swedge reduces resistance when slicing with the tip portion of the knife and enables the knife to have more penetrating abilities than a traditional sheepsfoot.

The other thing I find of note on the Insingo is its performance as the knife dulls. We all know S30V/S35VN tends to lose the scary sharp edge very quickly and then it holds a sharp utility edge for quite some time. The Insingo continues to perform well at this level of a utility edge. Extremely well.

Finally, it is a very easy knife to sharpen. That's just my take though. YMMV.

Good luck with owning just one CRK.

LMAO, no joke.

Yes, yes & yes. :cool::thumbsup:

Welcome back. It’s been a long time........ I have always liked the large sebenza, the small is just a little too small for me.
