After I lost my Arc LS due to the Arc seizure (it was in for repair) I was looking for another good 1W EDC. Peter reimbursed me for the seized Arc so I had the $$ for the purchase. I received the Longbow today and really like it. It is larger than the LS but the light is perfect white and very bright. Fit and finish is awesome. I can recommend this light as an Arc LS alternative.

If you haven't bought the S017XA reflector, and UCL combo for your Micra...just do it  Much more usable beam than the factory optic, and a better beam than the NX05 in the Arc, too.
I think www.flashlightlens.com sells them as a package. Not sure.
I wish it were as small as the LS w/twisty, but oh well.
Congratulations, that's a great light.

OwenM,

Is that a Fehrman Scout in your avatar?

<Thread realted> Yeah, Longbows are really nice. I like that you can mount some of their lights on tripods.

Yup, I've been a fan of the Longbow Micra (twisty) for some time now. I just got a second one for a spare. It's a really wonderful light. Truthfully, my Micra had already displaced my Arc LSL-S and Arc4+ as my EDC LED light. Personally, I prefer the stock optic over the reflector (tried it), but the UCL lens is an absolutely must.

I took your advice and ordered the combo. Is the installation difficult?

It's as difficult as unscrewing the lens bezel and popping the parts into place. :)

Another fan of the Longbow Micra. After carrying an Arc LSH-ST as my primary EDC light, I found the Longbow a much more versatile and brighter light than the Arc LS.

Yep, Longbow Micra is my EDC. Also put the SO17XA reflector and UCL. They do come bundled from Flashlightlens.com. McGizmo of Candlepowerforums.com fame posted a prototype Luxeon III capsule for the Micra. I asked him if he would sell it to me. Couldn't hurt to ask and he said yes. :D The combo is awesome!

It is my understanding that the reflector is already cut to fit when you order the combo. I bought mine separately before the combo was available, and had to do some filing on the reflector to make it fit. Regardless, it only took ~10 minutes, IIRC, with the file on a Leatherman tool.
I have the same reflector in a KL1 w/SWOK Luxeon III @700mA (had it modded by "Chop" on CPF with a Q3J@700mA, some time ago, then switched the LED and put in the reflector later). My Micra, while not quite as bright, since it's running somewhere close to spec on the 1w LED has much better color than the vaunted WO bin LIII.
Very impressive, IMO.

Sidewinder,
Yeah buddy! Fehrman Shadow Scout. This was a GB&U thread, but someone asked for pics, and I posted a couple that are halfway decent here: Fehrman - amazing!!

I received the SO17XA reflector just last Monday from Flashlightlens.com. I didn't order the reflector/lens combo because I already had the UCL. Didn't have to modify the reflector. Quick replace and drop-in and I was in business. Much nicer beam layout than the stock optic.

The Longbow Micra is indeed very cool! :) It's one of the most ergonomic flashlights out there. The way it's put together is neat too and it's pretty bright as well.

IMO, the SO17XA reflector is a must have. It gives you a way better beam shape. I wrapped a little bit of electrical tape around the outside of it to make the reflector fit snugly. You can easily cut the "legs" off of the bottom if the reflector isn't already cut to fit.

The UCL lens is great. It's thicker than the stock lens though, so you need a thinner rubber ring. Flashlightlens.com will include the O-ring if you get that size lens from them specifically for the LB Micra.

I'm really tempted to order a McCapsule or try to put together the kit myself. That sounds like an amazing modification. Thanks very much for the beamshots, Grnamin. Maybe Longbow will make their own 3W Micra capsule some time?

I have getting a lot of good feedback about the Longbow Micra. Not a single negative report so far. Must be pretty cool flashlight! :)
