I've looked around and don't see foam in 24" length, 12x24 would be good. My press now only does blades up to 16" or so.
I see Graingers has some "foam" but not sure what kind it is exactly, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey brother! Good to see you poking around! :)

I'm not going to give any advice because when it comes to kydex bending I'm, well, retarded. :p :o but I do remember seeing that the closed cell foam mats for yoga and such will work in a pinch?

blue camping pads at walmart :)

Bingo! Thats the ones I'm thinking of! I used to use those to pad armor for SCA. It really absorbs the impact of a large rattan bat/sword. I DO NOT miss getting hit with those things one darn bit!!!

gimme,
knifekits sells it. If you order two of the 12" x 11 1/2" they'll send in a 24" x 11 1/2" piece.

Thanks Dwayne and everyone. I have a crummy yoga mat but I don't think its thick enough unless I double it up. Ill give knifekits a looksee too.

Them blue camping mats at wally world are good to go, if you need thicker just get some contact cement spray and glue two pieces together and viola! Cheap enough to use through quickly, I replaced mine at least twice a year. Sweat ya'know.

I just pulled out my yoga mat and Ill have to double up on it if I use it. I doubled up on my current press. Maybe Ill get off my ass and work on it today.

Just an update, whatever my yoga mat is made out of it didn't like the kydex. Stuck to it on the first try. Bummer.

also spray a little wd-40 on the mat it will help.

I just found sheets of neoprene at Weaver Leather. Only thing is that they're .25" and cost (I think) $300. It's a big sheet though so I imagine, even stacked, it would last you a very long time.
