Longer Handles

A while back someone brought up the idea of making some of the smaller knives (like the JKM-1) with longer handles so they would be easier to control. (IIRC Jim's design may even have had a longer handle originally.)

Is this likely to happen? I don't have a JKM myself, but tend to prefer the longer handles, so I'm more likely to get one if the grip goes back farther. I have trouble with the kagas katnes because I am not able to grip them in my palm.

Dear JohnnieT,
constructed as they are it might be an option to make your own? You could use wood or one of the high tech moulding materials to make a custom handle. If I really couldn't get on with the size or shape of a handle I'd definitely consider this. I have made a handle for a heavy knife (not a khuk), extending it to about a foot long (just the handle) and the results were amazing. So quick and usable it was frightening.

Best wishes,

Jeff.
