I've been looking at some of the bigger folders out there, and now I'm wondering just how big of a folder you can buy without a custom order.

Can you guys fill me in?

including some stats and prices would be a bonus.

There are production folders in the 5" to 6" blade length. Check out ColdSteel Ti-Lite VI and Sog Pentagon II - both < $100 range.

That Opinel, was it meant for melon cutting or such?

Can't see Opinel just making a knife as a statement.

Melons, bread, AND as a statement -- a display knife. Whatever. It's not like it's really expensive to make. The #12 has a 12 cm (4.8") blade, which is pretty big itself, and is useful in the kitchen.

but I have a balisong with a 15" blade. Opened up it comes to around 29-30" OAL.

I have seen a folder that looked like it was at least 3' long open. Display only of course- it was in Tactical Knives I believe, but man what a huge folder. Was tempted to buy one this X-mas but as it is not a quality name brand knife it was left on the counter.
