Longest wait time you've had on a knife ...

few weeks also , but i mostly buy what i can get in a week or 2 . like i said in other thread 5 years ???? that is boggles my mind , i know people buy what they want but 5 years ? damn im not a patient person . in period of time i would have forgot all about it

years and years. ive been on the list with guys like Burch and Southard for years, i think since the 3rd Gathering with Brad Southard

I think I'm at close to 8 yrs on my order with Rich Derespina. I'm never going to get that knife - last time he answered me, he agreed to complete the knife, sell it, and return my deposit. He did the first two parts of that (I saw the completed knife advertised on his Facebook page), and I haven't heard from him since.

Since you asked about knives received, though, my longest wait was for my Randalls - 3 yrs, on a stated wait time of 18 months. Of course, there was never any doubt that I'd receive those.

Something like a couple of years for this Yuna Knives Qi 3

Several months for a Koyote custom from Cristof Harper, it was at the time when he was starting to cut back or retire from making, still not sure the reason, but it took several months and inquiries, but finally it was his assistant Koyote Girl who got mine off the "To Do List" and finally in my hand. I do not have any bad feelings toward him, just always wanted to know why he stopped making knives or at least wanted some notification. I hope all is well with him and I would like to find out what he has been up to lately.

5.5 years for a Randall the wait is six years now.

I didn’t mind the wait. It’s an investment if you think about it in a positive way. $50 down locks in today’s price. So the $50 gets you at least a $75 savings in 6 years.

The best way to do it is to order ahead for a significant event. On your 44th birthday order your Randall for your 50th Birthday. My kids turned 12 they designed and ordered their 18th birthday present. At 59 order your retirement present. Etc.

I pre payed for the original zt 500 in elmax. I honestly think it was just under a year.
For a custom, I waited 7 months for an edc in K390 and Ctek from OTK.
He communicated with me the whole time and gave me a discount because fi ishing 63hrc k390 turned out to be a hemorrhoid.
Both knives were worth the wait and are still in my collection.

So you paid for one of those?

On topic, I think a couple weeks for a custom lime cutter. I've waited longer for a custom sheath. I don't do the wait game well so I tend to avoid it.

If you want a laugh, head over to the GB&U and check out the current survive thread. People or going on a 4 year wait for a production knife.

It’s not like we don’t have other knives to use while waiting. Forgot to post a picture of the Randall. It took me by surprise. I thought it was a wrench I ordered for work tore open the box and thought what the heck is this? I didn’t order a knife! Thankfully I didn’t slash through the sheath or send it skidding across the pavement!

still I would have liked to savor the moment!

Two years for a Randall. Didn't seem like that long though. Six or so months for a Skaha II. Seemed like much longer. The Randall rarely leaves the safe. The Skaha rarely leaves my pocket.

I decided I wanted a Civivi Elementum right as they became unavailable. I wonder how long I'll wait for that one.

Well into 10 years, probably never see the knives. My theory is, order the knife and walk away, if the maker doesn't want my money that's OK. A friend has a different approach bug and irritate the maker until you get the knife, he'll only get one from the maker he annoys.
