Longest waiting period?

I got to wondering the other day what the longest time anyone had ever experienced waiting to receive a Chris Reeve knife that they had ordered? Do to circumstances beyond CRK's control (and Bridget's, who has my deepest sympathy as she is the one who has to answer my stupid E-mails and relay the bad news to me everytime the order gets moved back, these are for you

), my large wood inlay which was ordered 9/16/99 is still in-process. If I am lucky I should receive it sometime in September and this would put me at around a one year wait. Has anyone ever waited longer than that? Just curious, as if I was going for a record here, it just might ease my pain a little

. To keep things in perspective, we are just talking since the production versions started and not include South African knives or the customs made exclusively by Chris in the US (when exactly was this anyway?). It is not all bad though. Because of the delay I was able to temporarily direct a little of my Sebenza fund and pick up a sweet Shadow I. Funny how some things just work out for the best

You're not alone. I've had several models on order for over a year... and I'm a dealer.

I have orders that go back to July, '99 that haven't been filled yet. Inlays are even slower. I had two on order and, to date, have only received one, with no idea as to when the next one will show up.

I always order the different models in groups of two or more and, usually, I get them one at a time and they are spread out quite a ways. Even plain models are rationed.

Don't fret. The resources at CRK are limited and, with their current popularity, they are spread a bit thin but they always come through.

It takes time to build these knives right. The alternative would be to reduce the amount of hand fitting and precision in the work and I don't think we want that. I know I don't.

Hang in there. It's worth the wait.
