What's the longest you waited for a Spyderco pre-order?

I placed my pre-order almost 7 months ago for the smallfly 2 (SO excited for an EDC-able balisong), waiting for a 2020 release for Christmas...its middle of march now...

I've moved on to happier things, but still dream of my smallfly once in awhile...

What's the longest time you good folks waited for? I'm, hoping for the best but preparing for the worse :rolleyes:
 
I am in the same ballpark with the Rex45 Chief and the Fluted CF Native.
I also waited for a Military, but I cancelled and ordered a different one from ebay.
 
I once placed a "preorder" for a knife on BHQ for $5 deposit a couple of years ago. Think the order was "on file" for about 4 weeks before the knife was released for sale.

However, the knife became available 4sale at another dealer b4 BHQ even tried to fill the preorder. So, I cancelled the preorder (got a refund for the deposit) and bought it from the other dealer.

Have never and will never place another preorder (with any dealer) for a knife again because as soon as the knife "goes public" because it is widely available across the Net after release BUT, if you wait too long to buy it after release, you may have to wait awhile to finally get your hands on it.

On the other hand, if it's an Exclusive, Sprint or a Limited Release item that is in high demand that you absolutely MUST have, I could see placing a pre-order to confirm that you'll get one but I've never found the need to do this myself.

Ahdunno, a several months, maybe. If it takes too long, the novelty of the vaporware knife fades and I cancel the order. Some recents that I've given up on were the Chief in REX45, Swick, Bug and Grasshopper in DLC, Endela and Endura in K390 SE. For this reason, I've decided that BHQ and I are not compatible. I'm not going to pay a dime for the promise that at some undefined future date, I'll get the privilege of buying a knife.

Kobold I just saw sooner state has Rex45 Chief in stock, not sure if others have it yet but Kenny usually gets things early since he's so small. Just Google it.

Thank you DergyII, but I pre-ordered the Chief at a local shop here in Europe. I am just waiting now. I have faith in them. :-)

I preordered the Swick 5 when it was announced. I guess that’s been the longest for me, which at this point has been many months.
 
It's been one year since I pre-ordered (and paid) for the Heinnie Haynes exclusive UKPK. I'm not particularly happy about it. Last I heard, it was in line to be produced next month. Here's hoping.

On the plus side... I have a Birdseye Maple Chaparral on the way, so that's pretty rad. :D

Your guys have the patience of Job.

I've never waited more than 1 month for anything to be ordered and then only because no substitute would do, like a certain car part necessary for a repair.

Basically, if I can't get it when I want it, I just put it on the backburner and may or may not "remember" to check to see if that time is available later.

Most things aren't so unique that I "must" have it. There's always something else of interest to me to spend my $ on and I have a lot of hobbies (other than knives) that call for my attention.

LOL! ;)
