Post 'em if you've got 'em!image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg
It's interesting to note that the spine on mine is almost 5/8" at the bolster, but if you look at it from the edge side the blade body is only 1/4" at the thickest-a t spine like a choora, blending into the distal taper-all done by fullering the blade.
Btw, if anybody knows what the inscription says I'd be much obliged...

the words are almost certainly the king, prime minister, unit and armory number-- we had it all puzzled out a few months ago, several members have these now- I have traded all of mine or given them away !

I definitely don't know, but think I can puzzle out some of it:
"Sri 3 Chandra [Prime Minister Chandra Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana] / [?] Rifles / [Company] No. 3 / [Soldier or rack number] 54"
Spiral or Beoram or Yangdu can probably do a much better job &/or correct my mistakes.:o

What Berk said. The second inscription (unit=Shree r? dal). That one character stumps me. Ill see if I can find it in John Walters "Guns of the Gurkhas". Nice one JW. They are beast arent they? Your right about the width. Where they punched the fuller out the metal spreads out making the spine a bit thicker. Mine is slightly thinner at the bolster because of this. Otherwise in front of the fuller it is all uniformly tapered. Berkley even has the sheath:thumbup: Neither AC or IMA have the sheaths anymore. AC told me they were all worm eaten and rotted away. I love the style of the handle on these! They are like what Thamar Kami is doing. If you get a chance to pick up one of his blades I think you will like it. They are lighter of course but same general shape, drop etc.

(this spot reserved for pic when i get off my duff)

Heres one I used to own. I bet the new owner will appear soon with pics:D...ooops he beat me to the draw. Very welcome! I believe everyone should have one of these. Gets ya back to your roots dont it!

Ndog, you have the twin or a similar longleaf correct? Thought you said you had two. If you don't I better send this one back. It's a treasure.

Yep I had two. Dont even think about sending it back. No way! You got one and I got the other. They are twins. Both with the same khullness factor! I have the Chackma and Karda that goes with them too thanks to our friend up there by the big cold water pond. Im going to do a pic session shortly of the Longleaf with it siblings and the stand you made (Thanks you sir!..er Lord:D), Planchok, and BVUK, did i miss anybody?

Here's an interesting comparison photo between Bawanna's vintage Longleaf and my new Thamar Bahadur curved spine khukuri.

The new blade is probably thicker and heavier, at 30 oz. I don't have it yet, and I can't tell from Yangdu's photo if it has distinct fullers, but the overall shape is strikingly similar to the Longleaf.

One thing I really like about the Longleaf is how the Sword of Shiva follows the curve of the spine.

hopefully, thamar will continue to hone his classical longleaf skills and present us with top notch blades

Thamar Kami Yek Chirra and Gurkha Army Khuk (Longleaf) Definitely some similarities going on here.

This is a nice bunch of khuks-wish i had planned an extra day in Atlanta when we went down for Blade show to go out and paw theough the ones Atlanta Cutlery has left...

last time I talked to AC and IMA they both still have quite a few ; so if you ever have an extra bill it is not a bad buy; I also like their antique patch knives. also its pretty easy to get a good one, just ask that they hand select one that is not loose, has no bent tip etc-- thats why you pay 10 more dollars for hand select!

well yeah! was just saying you arent locked out because you did not manage :D It would be really cool to look through a pile of old khuks like that.

Yeah-the one you sent me is great, so I don't really need another-but that'd be a heck o a research opportunity.
