Longterm Busse storage ??

Hi,
I'll have to store my Busse knives for a longer period of time (about a year) and was wondering how to do that best:
- should I keep the edge oiled or greased?
- should I keep the blades in the kydex sheaths or not?
Any help and experiences are appreciated! Thanks,
Jan

Jan, my advice is to keep them anywhere but in the bodies.:p

Seriously though... I don't think you will have any problems regardless of what you do but if you are concerned about long term storage, I would probably grease the INFI and wrap them in cheesecloth, butcher paper, or newsprint outside of the sheaths and in a dry place.

My Busse storage is rather simple. For coated blades I don't do anything, for satin I wipe it down with tuf-cloth every three months. All blade Busse or other are stored in Bill's Custom Cases.

Jan,

I think the best and safest way to store your INFI is to send it to me. I will check it regularly to ward off any oxidation.

Contact me offline for shipping info...;) :D :p

RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGHHHHHHHTTTT!!!!!
Whatever, I think I'm well beyond the point of trusting anyone here as my INFIsitter.
Seriously though, I'm leaving my INFI behind in Germany because I'm coming to the US in August to study. Since foreign students are not very well liked by the INS these days and there's already a huge delay in my visa papers, I'm minimizing the risks for trouble by not having anything pointy and made of steel in my luggage, not even the check-in.
However, to help me over the shock of parting with my blades, I have new ones waiting for me when I arrive. I'll be in the Champaign, IL area, so maybe we could meet up at some show in the area or something! Then YOU can give me some of YOUR INFI! Hehe :D

If they are coated just wipe them down well with tuf-cloth or something similar. If they are satin or DC look into using RenWax, it is some great stuff. :D:D

I've backed away from using RenWax. It's fine on semi-mirror to mirror satin finishes, however I don't like how it sits on standard type satin, brushed satin, or similar. Unless you get into the mirror grade, all satin finishes have underlying patterns from the maker refining the finish. RenWax REALLY brings those lines and patterns out visible to the eye....to the point of driving you crazy on pieces you've kept for collection and/or display.

No Busse knives as of yet, but I use a very light coat of CLP Break Free on my carbon steel blades. (BK&T - should rust a lot easier than INFI)
No problems at all so far, not even in rather humid conditions as we are having now.
