That's as minimal as you could get, I think. Compares favorably with a front flipper.

Do you think itd actually open the blade all the way? I imagine you'd have to flick your wrist a little with such a small flipping tab

I have no idea. I imagine, as with all Shiros, as soon as it is released there will be a thousand Instagram videos of people flipping them open and closed. ;)

On Instagram, Shirogorov says "the flipping action is excellent thanks to properly executed and tuned MRBS multi-row bearing system." Given their quality of construction, I'd believe it.

Sinkevich design.

It’s cool but not the most minimal design. I find the Dietz designed corner of the tang flipper is even lower profile as nothing sticks out, rather the scale is cut away. This flipper type is also featured on the Spyderco Smock.

I am not sure how well the sinkevitch flipper will work but it does look like the smock style has more “throw room” before your finger hits the spine of the handle.

Still I think the sinkevitch flipper is an awesome design, the knife itself is cool but not my style.

That Spyderco Smock looks pretty interesting. I generally prefer the knives they do that don't have the thumb hole resulting in a hump in the blade.

I think it will be a while before we see this knife, and I assume it will be a limited release. The upcoming collab knife is the Barker Hokkaido which is just entering production. I'd be surprised if we see the Sinkevich collab before sometime later next year.

I do like the design a lot, as it's something different than the serial production Shiros, but still understated and somewhat traditional. I also expect the Hackenslash Hackenslash dubbed "NUB" to get that blade firing out as smoothly and quickly as any other Shiro. After all, that's how they roll. :)
