look at this crazy folder

Proudly manufactured of the finest Pakistani mystery metal. Looks like a Bud K Special to me. :D That sort of "knife" has been around for years. Like the "Rambo" knives, it has its appeal to collectors of gen-you-wine schlock.

I think that's one of SMKW Ol' Smoky knives. Worth about $1.25.

I actually have one of these. I found it too entertaining to pass up. Shipping cost me more that the knife. I believe that there was a non pakistaini version somwhere in history, but they are few and far between. Sometimes a collection has to have a few oddities...:D

When I asked about it, forum member Fixed Blade offered this,

"If so, I'd say your's is a rather recent knock-off of this old pattern that was around in the 30's and made by Union Cutlery, Imperial and Colonial. I've owned several of each of those over the years and could never understand what the real intended purpose was for the hatchet blade. I've heard some say it was a tobacco box opener or plug cutter."

I have no idea why I like these knives. The hatchet seems to be just about useless. I have seen some of the original versions of this knife and have almost bought one. The price on the original versions always turned out to be more than I wanted to pay. It would be something different to have in your collection though.

The cheap crappy ones that have been produced in recent times hold no interest for me at all.

From the ebay site:
THIS IS A REAL EYE CATCHER EVERYONE THAT SEES IT IS AMAZED.

Now THAT I can believe.;)

Id like to see the oak logs I got beat the crap out of that axe rofl. I can jsut see it now slamming the axe blade into the log and the handle breaking away from the axe :D

...But it's such a nice-looking pocketknife....

That $29.95 "Buy It Now" price should be $2.95 if the price was based on it's "value" as someting to actually USE.

But Dann, if the buy it now price was $2.95, then they would have to charge $29.95 for shipping and handling. I mean you've got to pay people real well to handle a POS like that!

As I stated previously, I found it unique enough to buy and paid more for the shipping than the knife. Oddly enough, it comes with a leather sheath, that again may be wat I actually paid for.
knife snobbery is an ugly thing. There are designs and items of curiosity that you may overlook that are very interesting. This is a design that american companies made in the past. I am a bit curious as to why, but it is interesting to me none the less.
