An excerpt from the PBS station that showed this in my area:
Alone In the Wilderness
While living alone in the wilderness, Dick Proenneke carefully documented his everyday life by keeping daily journels but also would document on film with with his old 16mm Bolex camera. The book "One Man's Wildeness" was written back in the early 70's about this man and his interesting and very unique lifestyle, but the film footage has never been seen before. After 35 years of living alone and at the age of 82, Dick decided it was time to leave his little cabin and return to civilization. In 2002, thousands of feet of Dick's original film footage was turned over to independent film makers Bob Swerer and Bob Swerer, Jr. With the permission of the writer and publisher of Dick's book, they carefully fit the footage to the original journals, and the result is this program.
This guy's skills are very much worth watching and very interesting. Educational. Recommended.
