I got my Vietnam Tactical Tomahawk today. The UPS man thought it was awesome. This thing is so light! I can move it around in my hands quick and I can recover from a swing in a split of a split second. I can already tell its tough as nails. To celebrate getting any knife or tomahawk I buy... I rip the box it came in to shreds. This hawk made confetti of the box in seconds.
This is an awesome thrower and the Acetal handle makes for the best grip imaginable. Its easy to hold on to - almost sticks to your hand but its also easy to let go of when you throw!

Even the sheath is great. This hawk and the RR Spike are everything I expected and more... and I was expecting a lot. The generousity and genuinneness of the people at ATC are comforting. They have done everything possible to answer my questions and get my tomahawks to me as quick as they could.
The NG has been delayed again because of mechanical problems and it makes me feel bad to see Andy stress out about this. He's been doin his best to get the NGs ready to go and I'll get mine soon. Thank you for working and stressing your butt off to get the NG situation under control, Andy, and don't worry, we're right behind ya all the way.

Justin, thank you!!! Suzanne, thank you!!! Andy... THANK YOU!!!

Peter LaGana's masterpiece is alive, well, and still kicking ass.

Thanks for the great write up! Your excitement really piques my interest in obtaining one of these 'hawks for myself! :)

Nice work on the pictures too, very well done my friend.

Man, Andy and the 'crew' have really outdone themselves this time eh?

I was going through the 'Bug out bag' tonight, and something seemed to be missing...maybe it's a top notch Tomahawk! :D

"Stay Sharp"...and keep up the good work Rob, your enthusiasm is 'contagious'...lol

Buds,

Shel, er, Mel... ;)

Damn Shel, get one of these. I love the RR Spike AND the VN Tac BUT I like the VN Tac a bit more. This thing kicks some serious ass, my friend. You're missin out!

As for the pics, as good as my $300 digicam can do :D

I can't believe when I bought this thing I was actually only THINKING about it. Wouldn't trade it for any other knife, sword, tool, anything! You name it. Thanks!

Blueflinthawk, You lucky dog. Mine should be coming soon, I ordered it from 1sks. When I ordered it I was told that it will also come with a caracci sheath as a thanks for buying from them, but I don't see it as an option on the ATC site any more ,so I don't know if it's going to come with it or not. One can always hope.

One more hawk you should get is the vietnam hawk from brigade quatermaster limited to 500. It comes with the caracci sheath and it kicks ass. The last time I was on there site they still had some in stock. I have hawk number 187.

Well, after ordering an NG, an RR Spike and a Vietnam Tac all within 2 months I'm dry as far as money goes. I spent all my Christmas and other money on these 3 hawks and a Busse Basic #9.

As far as Vietnam hawks go.... I'm good for a while :D
I'm a short guy and I thought the Caracci sheath would be more awkward for me...

Its amazing how many expensive wonderful toys I can get when I become single... first things I've bought myself in over 3 years. I'm glad I'm single

Man! Thanks for the insight. I should be getting a hawk just like it on Friday and I can’t wait! I ordered a NG Ranger clear back at the beginning of December and I am still waiting for it. I know you said the cash flow is a little low right now (believe me I know I just bought an AR-15) but you should check out Max the Mini Axe. I have one and it rules. Get the shoulder rig and Max goes everywhere like your own little personal guardian angel. Just a thought, and thanks for all of the great posts. Keep ‘em coming!

I too ordered an NG in the first half of December. I talk to Andy once in a while and I can see he's stressed about getting those NGs sent out. I ordered my RR Spike and Vietnam Tactical about a month ago and they're here and I can't wait for my NG. These hawks are the greatest and the NG is going to be even better.

Max the Mini Axe really isn't my thing and I think I have enough top knotch tomahawks for now... Don't tempt me - I'll start stealing

Hey that's cool, I have a Roger's Rangers Spike hawk and the Vietnam field grade. Both are cool but I didn't know whether or not to get the tac version until now. I used to be more of a traditionalist kinda guy. Hey Rob, when you get that NG Ranger post some more pics ya?

Thanks for those pics - they are awesome.

I notice the handles are VERY different to the one that appears on ATC's site - I much prefer the one you have, so that must be an early proto on the site.

How much does it weigh? (I posted another thread, but this thread is much better!)

Cheers

Oh, don't worry, Don! I'm going to go crazy with the camera - I'll take lotsa pics of the NG Ranger and all the hawks together. Hope you get the Tac version Don... its more than worth it!

Daniel... the head weight is about 16 oz. - 1 pound. I love the handle on this hawk, it feels great. This hawk is chopping out a big place in my heart :D I'm tempted to sleep with it... but I don't wanna lose anything!!!

Actually, I like the cross hatch style better myself.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again - if I was still in the military, the VT Tactical hawk would be on my gear. This is one of the few pieces of equipment I've found that is worth spending personal money on to carry into the field with me.

Kevin

BFH, thanks for posting the great selection of pics.
I especially appreciate the shot showing the top of the head.

Lightweight, but solid.

Hey nice pics. Enjoy those Hawks! I see that the new handles are a bit different from the first ones. I have the old style acetal handle, held on with a wedge pin. It is rock solid!

With that new style handle, is that a screw holding it on? How does that work?

See you on the trail!

We have employed the use of a higher performace wedge for our Vietnam Tactical...a hex bolt!

By tapping and threading a channel down the center of the handle from the top, we are able to effectively spread and lock more Acetal inside the eye, over our machined "step lock". While we have broken some of previous wedge designs, we have yet to break one of these!
