It's so nice! Now what to buy next lol. Fit and finish at a glance seem great! and that jigged bone...Drool... However, GEC needs to learn how to sharpen a knife, its kind of sad honestly, maybe I just got a lemon in that regard. Not a big deal though, touched it up already and its hair whittling sharp :D Now, can somebody enlighten me about this, is the whole run of this configuration 25 or do I just have one of the first of 25? What's with the gunk in the nail nick? It doesn't seem to come out...

Nice score.

Your knife is #19 of 25 serialized knives. GEC most likely made some without serial numbers too but I don't know that for a fact.

I've never tried to remove the gunk in the nail nick. I always thought it was more of a discoloration than gunk.

I simply use a chamois cloth with my finger nail and dig it out till black stops coming off.

Kitten, your model was made with 24 serialized knives and 30 more without serial numbers, per the GEC website. They're great knives.

Great knife and blade combo, beautiful and functional pattern, congrats. I hope you love your GEC as much as I love mine.

Very few makers know how to sharpen a knife anymore. Case is relearning- my last one was at least even and crisp. Buck is OK. Queen is either screaming sharp or dull as a butter knife. Victorinox is a laser. Boker, dull. Svord, barely even ground, let alone sharp. GEC, inconsistent.

I know the idea is that you're going to use it, so who cares if it's sharp, but I'd like it ready to go from the box.

Very nice! I have that same #92 unserialised. I love the autumn gold bone and that jigging is excellent. The blade combo of long-pull spear/coping blade is awesome - my favorite combo.

My 92 is one of my very favorite traditional pocket knives.

The GEC Eureka Jack is one of my favorites. I went with the Ebony version as I liked it being bareheaded.

A lot of my GEC knives have arrived not as sharp as I like. No problem to me as it gave me a chance to bond with my new knife by getting it sharp.

I got two GECs this week.... one needed sharpening, the other didn't.... I did see that the one that didn't will eventually need to be sharpened quite a bit to smooth out a flat spot..... and it's a little bity blade meaning re-profiling by hand.
