Had some a little extra $ so I picked up a BK14:

Thought that with this little guy I could give stripping a try. Picked up some Citri-Strip and some sandpaper. Here is the final result:

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, just waiting on my azwelke sheath. I wasn't really sure on a proper sanding technique (if one even exists). I went from handle to tip and found it a little hard to sand when the blade was facing my sanding hand seemed to work out ok.

I am however un-happy with the edge, I'm not sure if I sanded the edge off or not but I couldn't really get the edge back to where it was. I only have a basic Lansky system. Not sure if I messed up the edge any further or not, got late and go tired, I'll have to look into it further tomorrow. Maybe look into sending it to someone to get a real nice edge on it (anyone on the east coast?). Anyways, if you guys have any feedback and/or tips feel free to leave em :)

Cheers,

DP

i dont know if a proper sanding technique exists but i think it came out great it looks awsome with the orange grips and the bright blade.
great job

Looks good to me. I have been thinking about taking the coating off a couple of my knives but have not gathered the gumtion (sceared) to do it

I love that look. I think all knives should be stripped and patina'd as soon as you get em. And my 14 is definitely one of my favorites.

I was a little hesitant too, but I used Citri-Strip which isn't too crazy in terms of stripping power. It worked fairly well, had to do a bit more scrubbing/scrapping than I thought I would. Once I get the edge back I plan on just using it for about everything to get a natural petina eventually. Good luck if you do try!

I think it turned out really nice. If you want it sharpened up proper, contact Richard J here on the forums. I think he's in OH, iirc.
