Well, I got another chance to check out a collection of guns at an estate sale before the auction was held again last week, and I found a prize. There were only six guns in this so called collection(all long guns-mostly JC Higgins .22s and shottys) and none of them were worth more than a hundred dollars or so, until the lady said, " Would you be interested in buying a handgun too?"
so, I said, sure! She then brings out this...

A like new, nickel, Colt Cobra. I won't rub it in by saying what she sold it to me for, but let's just say that I'm a happy camper!:D:D:D

Hehe- reminds me of the second handgun I ever bought. The first was a cheap German-made .22.
The second was a Colt Detective Special, the direct ancestor of this weapon. Blued steel, 2", .38 special. That was in 1965 or so, when I was in the army. Was planning to go into police work when I got out.
The only real difference, as far as I know, is the shrouded ejector rod.

As a died-in-the-wool Colt man, I must say, I need a lobster bib!

Congrats. The only thing that would make it better would be if it was mine. I remember when the new style Dick Specials came out in the early seventies. I thought they looked ugly compared to the classic panache of the earlier models. Now I look on any Colt wheelgun as something wonderful and rare.

Congratulations, Tolly! What a prize! It's kind of like the pretty version of my old Colt Agent .38 with what looks like a parkerized finish, though whatever is on the aluminum alloy frame is not really parkerizing. Your Cobra sure is a fine looking little snake! Enjoy it. :D

Yep, I am a Big Time Colt fan when it comes to my first love(1911s), but I usually stick to the Smith revolvers. Sometimes though, you just can't pass up a deal, and I have always loved the Colt Revos too, I have only recently started looking for them. The funny thing is that this one found me,
