An 1800s silver, (there are silver Hallmarks on both cases) keywind pocket watch, if anyone knows any thing about this watch I'd appreciate any info.

I got it at a yard sale where it was $10 for every bag you filled. :)

The name on the inside says Wm. Buchan Dundee.

Thanks.

I don't have a key but the mechanism does move and if you jiggle it a little it runs for about 2-3 minutes.

You stole it !!! That should be on the PBS program Antique Roadshow. That should be very easy to track down .The hall marks tell who made the case. The watch is probably early 1880s English.

Take it back, and put something more worth your $1.50 in the bag. Like light-brights, or Legos, or broken Nintendo games.

Good grief - what a SCORE. (Ask for info in some of the watch fora. If you send me a PM, I will tell you which ones are nice to newbies.)

That is worth a lot of money! The mechanism is called a Fuseé where one drum is wound up and a small chain drives the movement. I had a wall clock with a similar movement where someone had stuck wood veneer over the enamelled copper face!

The hallmark will date to an exact year, the assay office in the UK and the case maker. Dundee is a market town in Scotland, but I guess you know that. Also famous for 'Dundee Cake', a rich fruit cake.

T. Erdelyi........

A "scrawpy get" may also be commonly classified as a " lucky muvva f**ka!".

I assume that:" IS 'NUFF SAID!!!???"

Apologies, it's a "Mancuniariasm!"

i.e. local Manchester dialect here in the good 'ole U.K!

did you get any additionnal info about your nice old watch?
It look like a museum one !

I've only scratched the surface of the watch, I know it's made in the early 1800s, after 1820, prior to that they didn't sign them, I know who the watch maker was, it's also a paired case because of the larger case used when the watch hung for the evening.

$10/filled bag...what else was in the bag. Gold coins?

Mr. Lucky.

All the best,

What would be cool would be to get a bag big enough for their car and head back. That would be a good deal for $10.

LOL

I lived in Honolulu for a couple years. There are bags big enough to put a house into. Tent fumigation for termites which are the devil in the tropics. I lived in a cement apt. the only wood was the night stand. It collapsed one morning when all of the resident termites left.
