So I just came back from my first knife show, the BACKA in Santa Clara, CA. and saw some very sweet blades!

The show was pretty cool but a little different from what I expected. Not as big per say as the gun shows that I'm used to going to. Also, it was more of a custom knife show because there were very few production blades there. As a result, most everything at the show was a bit out of my price range.

However, there was a Strider table there and I managed to walk away with a sweet knife! I purchased the Strider SA-L. This is a brand new knife but I noticed a few "handling" marks on the blade itself (you can see from the close-up photo). After pointing this out to the seller and bargaining a bit he was willing to let it go for $220 instead of the $275 asking price. I don't know a whole lot about Strider knives but I think I managed a killer deal so I jumped on it.

I am very happy with this knife even though it isn't in 100% mint condition and hopefully I got a good deal. What ya guys think?

And here is the photo where you can see the marks on the blade

The edge itself is totally undamaged and super sharp.

Those marks look like scuffing from the kydex sheath - that qualifies as "handling" in my book.

With a Teklok, it'll be a good user, and ultimately you can get down to ghost stripes with time, just like worn finish on a good carry firearm. It says, "Been there," not, "Ohh, is that sunlight? Careful, I'm a delicate safe queen!"

Like a spouse, I'd rather have one good knife like that, that a box full of unused ones.

I just came from the show also. Great buy Jonny. I was hoping for more productions also.

Thanks all! I'm much more confident about the purchase now. But like tirod3 said, this will be a good user and I intend to do just that: use it!

I was at the show also, I was bumbed that there weren't more production knives. But, there were some good Striders and really nice customs there.

ya done good!!

every strider will have those marks if they have been put in a sheath. perfectly normal, does not mean yours is used in any way.

Stopped in to check out the show and would liked to have seen more production knives also. Saw a good number of Cris Reeve. A fellow had a full table of 75-100 Randall's all sheathed. It was too bad he didn't seem interested in selling any of them.
