Happy Days...direct from Alaska Gun..last one left...with black aluminium handles...

Out of interest, why are the alumium handles about $130 more than micarta? Are they better or something? What is everyone's preference over aluminium and micarta on the AK?
 
Holy darn! That is nice, althought reminds more like a western version of wakizashi than a knife! :D

Aluminum is lighter handle???but I really have no idea why it's on these...someone will be along soon that will know

Eric has both the aluminum and micarta, he would know the difference.
 
The Al handles are heavier than the micarta and they were more expensive from the shop also. I would imagine that the extra expense comes from cutting the pattern and also from anodizing them, neither of those can be cheap.

I have both Al and Micarta and they are both nice, personally I like the Al better but if it were going to be a user I would probably choose the micarta (as it is lighter)

Thanks Eric...yeh it was on the fleabay but only had 22 views on it...I am guessing it wasnt up long or at least people dont check in the "shop" section. There was also a CGFBM with black mic mags at $422 that someone picked up within an hour or two of me grabbing the AK...I almost grabbed both...lol...
 
Mine has aluminium handles too, but I can't compare to micarta because I only have one.:(
