Poor little guy!! He has been sitting in this trashy store for years and years. I say trashy cause, well... cause it is and they have the worst customer service known to man. This poor knife has some light rust on the guard and a one inch long angled cut in the handle. Its not deep at all, just a nasty blemish, but I would love to hear how it got there. To top it off, the cabinet it was in used SCREWS to hold the knives up!! Yes, its a vertical viewing cabinet and the knives rest on metal screws. Because of this, there is one very minor nick in the edge, but you have to be in the right light to see it.

They wouldn't discount the knife 20%, which is what the sign said for discontinued SOGs, claiming that it wasn't discontinued. Then I was told the lady that runs the knife area is in the hospital and only she can mark it down. Of course, being the place that this is, the price is sitting at MSRP of $310. I said in the condition the knife is in, it should be marked down at least 30%. Well, after showing them the SOG website on my phone, they agreed to 20% even though that certain lady wasn't there. Whatever, I paid $268 walk out, which was too much, but I feel better knowing this knife is in a better place.

On a good note, the sheath, box, cardboard sleeve and plastic bag were all tucked away and untouched. I have never seen a SOG box look this good, not even on my newer knives.

On a side note, they have an original Trident there marked SEKI-JAPAN along with the Navy Seals logo. It's the real deal, but wouldn't you know it, the pommel has some nasty dings in it. These morons can't keep anything nice. Its in a special case and is marked at $265 I think. The blade looks nice and I saw the box, which was pristine, so I wonder if its worth it? Oh, no 20% discount on that one...it's in the SPECIAL case.

Beautiful knife!! I will back the store up! If u want to return it --please return it to me for a refund;o) seriously.. if u get tired of looking at it i would be interested it that beauty..

Funny you should say that. When they couldn't find the box originally, this younger kid asked, "Well, in that case sir, can I interest you in another knife?". I think I yelled "F#@$ NO!!" in my mind, but politely told him, "No thank you". There are a few nice people in that store and that kid is one of them. BTW, I had cash, but used my AMEX card knowing they would get hit with a nice fee.

This knife will stay in my permanent collection, but thanks for the offer :)

I am what you call a "hoarder". I have all the original Coleco Vision, Atari, and Nintendo games my brother and I received back in the 80's. Every single knife I have ever gotten, I still have with the exception of two which are in the process of being recovered, hopefully. I have started selling some of my RC cars that I don't use, but other than that, I have some serious Dr. Phil level problems with keeping stuff :)

I dont see any serious issues with that.. I wish I was able to hoard little more but once my medium collection of 20 or so knives gets to 21+ i usually have to sell something to keep buying something else... I have 2 ANNIVERSARY AL MAR 10 year bowies #27 and 72.. I hate to sell one but they fetch around 1k.. Lately i been using googles on line picture storage to keep track of what i buy cause its fun to look back.

I have been afraid to open this thread ..... and I just confirmed that when I opened this thread.

my heart is now in arrythymia .... wow .... one of the 2 last SOG treasures I do not have in my collection .....

wow ......

Cheers,

Carl

p.s. and nuts to Dax .... I want that knife ... me first me first !! wow .....

As least you are only missing two!!! I am yet to get a single blued/nite/recon version of any of these badboys!!

I do understand your frustration and I consider myself very lucky to have found that knife. I wish the condition would have been a little better, the handle blemish is the only part that I don't think I can repair.

And I must apologize, there are about 50 knives in my collection now that would go before this one. Its in my top 10 for sure and the rarest SOG I have.

Whats the rarest SOG you own, Carl?

the rarest SOG ..... probably the Nite Tech. I know very little about it, but it was made during the earliest days of SOG, and not in great quantity. A grandfather of sorts to the SEAL 2000.

and maybe my X-42 Field Knife ?? not because of it specifically, but because it is a factory-second. Not many of those out in the world. It has a great big X near the logo.

Cheers,

Carl

New Pig Hunter: Nite Tech, that's nice. Now if you could tell me your address, work schedule and where you keep your knives, I will put you in a drawing for a free SOG HOG t-shirt. Sound good? :)

VictGerbSogCamill: Thanks!! Just doing my duty as a fellow SOG lover.
