Poor little guy!! He has been sitting in this trashy store for years and years. I say trashy cause, well... cause it is and they have the worst customer service known to man. This poor knife has some light rust on the guard and a one inch long angled cut in the handle. Its not deep at all, just a nasty blemish, but I would love to hear how it got there. To top it off, the cabinet it was in used SCREWS to hold the knives up!! Yes, its a vertical viewing cabinet and the knives rest on metal screws. Because of this, there is one very minor nick in the edge, but you have to be in the right light to see it.
They wouldn't discount the knife 20%, which is what the sign said for discontinued SOGs, claiming that it wasn't discontinued. Then I was told the lady that runs the knife area is in the hospital and only she can mark it down. Of course, being the place that this is, the price is sitting at MSRP of $310. I said in the condition the knife is in, it should be marked down at least 30%. Well, after showing them the SOG website on my phone, they agreed to 20% even though that certain lady wasn't there. Whatever, I paid $268 walk out, which was too much, but I feel better knowing this knife is in a better place.
On a good note, the sheath, box, cardboard sleeve and plastic bag were all tucked away and untouched. I have never seen a SOG box look this good, not even on my newer knives.
On a side note, they have an original Trident there marked SEKI-JAPAN along with the Navy Seals logo. It's the real deal, but wouldn't you know it, the pommel has some nasty dings in it. These morons can't keep anything nice. Its in a special case and is marked at $265 I think. The blade looks nice and I saw the box, which was pristine, so I wonder if its worth it? Oh, no 20% discount on that one...it's in the SPECIAL case.
