ok, so a friend of mine thinks the ranger 6 looks alot like the RAT5. I really dont think so. what do you think?:)

They are very similar looking knives. I certainly don't think anybody copied off of anybody else, as it's a fairly basic design. The shapes are different enough, but I think that's overshadowed by the "micarta scales on a black clip point" simplicity of the designs.

yeah, the only thing they have in common is the handles, I think that is it. I own the RAT5 but after seeing the Rd6, I think I want theat now!

Non knife people think a lot of knives look the same. For instance, every time I got a new Spyderco in black G-10, I would get asked by several people, "Don't you already have that one?" Nothing to worry about.

Your friend needs to learn a little more about knives.

Drop him like a bad habit until he does so.

The RD6 is a great knife. Break it and see.

As to looks, mmm the handle material is the same.

i dont know about the ranger looks like some one sprayed it with rino lining or something but i know the rat5 works well

I know, that's what I thought when I first saw a picture of one of Justin's RD series knives!:D Makes it look that much tougher. Sheesh, I'm starting to become a posterboy for Ranger knives(the RD series anyway), and I don't even own one yet!:o

The expoxy based coating Justin uses is amazingly tough, it takes a lot of wear and tear to work through it. Nice thing about it is no worries about blade rust.

If they do look alike, you might as well through a few Busses, Swamprats, and Scrapyards into the pile.... That's a fairly common blade and handle profile.
