This throwing knife Dave made after talking with a friend who throws knives as a hobby. Obviously not for throwing but came out perfectly balanced and a nice show piece. It's made out of A-2 tool steel, the handle is ebony and maple and the balance point is dead center. Since making this thrower he has made some actual throwers and we've enjoyed bringing them along to some picnics and family functions and letting everybody have a go at it. The kids and young adults especially love it. I wonder why???? We hope you enjoy and would love your feed back.

Very nice work. I really like that one.

What makes a good throwing knife? Is it just having the point of balance centered? Seems there must be more to it.

Thanks for sharing,

Decker,
The way I understand it that the balance point should be in the center. Slightly heavier is better than too light. The knives I have made too throw and not just look at are 8 to 11 inches long.Rockwell Hardness around 45. Symetrical blade. I like to have some knind of point on the other end. It gives me a better chance:D
The last picknick we had I gave one a way to a boy who broke a single balloon at 20ft. What a smile on his face:)
