Lookie what was waiting for me when I got home!

Worked a late shift and got home around 10:45 tonight. I was rather worn out and ready to perhaps make some tea and then hit the hay... but lo and behold! To my surprise - a package! Aunty had told me that she had shipped UPS, which - despite my preference for USPS - made sense as Aunty was shipping me 3 separate knives and UPS tends to be cheaper for such large parcels. That said, I wasn't expecting the knives until probably the middle of next week as that has been my experience with UPS (no Saturday deliveries, random delays and fairly long delivery times). So here is proof that Aunty does indeed have a time machine - she used UPS parcel and got a package from AZ to OR in 3 days. Seeing as though packages I've gotten from N. Cali using the same method has taken 5-6 business days, there simply can not be any other explanation!

Now here's the amazing part. Upon initial inspection, I thought this was a single, oddly shaped box but nay - it is two of HI's infamous triangular boxes taped together to make one lovely package of delights!

As for the contents? Well, that will be the topic of another, later thread ;)

Those boxes are free at the PO, I use them myself. They are called Mailing Tubes if you go to ordering them from the USPS website and they come in two sizes, the really long ones like you just got and one that is about two thirds as long... maybe closer to half. They are fantastic boxes and considering you can get a bale of twenty delivered to the house just for the asking... well saying you don't have a box to ship something out these days means you aren't really looking in the right place.

Hope you will post what is in those boxes to this thread soon...

Are they considered flat rate boxes? I use similarly labeled ones all the time for selling computer gear and shipping smaller things around. They're a great bargain for things that tend to be a tad heavy for their size. That all said, I'm just really liking how Aunty did this one - very crafty

As for the contents, there's the FK, a 18" satisal WWII, and the 16" villager GRS/BC I snagged from the DotD earlier on in the week. My father has been wanting a kukri since I brought one up to Canada with me last winter and I decided that he could choose between the WW2 and GRS/BC the next time he comes down. I'll definite be doing a review on the FK in the next couple of days

not, they are just Priority Mail boxes, not Flat Rate...

and those are the shorter ones actually, not the long ones...
