Lookin' at a Tokarev...

I've got a Russian I like it. Like any military gun the trigger is kind of stiff and the sights not so good but they are fun to shoot.

I had a Russian one and it was really nice for the money...be certain you know the take down for your model, they are not all the same as I recall.

The SKS is working well. I think the surplus ammo supply around here is rapidly drying up around here though. :(

I'm no longer freaked out by using corrosive ammo. A little hot water some careful drying and I've only had a small spot of rust in the gas tube since I got it.

It was a good starter piece. :)

Bruise! Where've you been man? There has been a severe paucity of levity around here sir. :D You are missed.
Steve

Edit: To stay on topic, the Tokarev looks like a ton of fun.

The CZ-52's an even better cheapie in the same caliber... In the US, they put ugly, after-design safeties on the Toks... still a neat thing to have.

Bruise, still got the cardboard khuk rack? ;)

Plus with the CZ52's you can get the trigger pull lightening firing pin upgrade:thumbup:

The safeties on the Tokarevs are an afterthought, they just lock the trigger, put there for liability reasons rather than functionality. Find one without the safety if it's available. I like the Tok's takedown, firing mechanism is a single module that pops out of the frame for cleaning. The grip angle, at least in my hand, makes it a poor pointer but otherwise it's a good'un for the money.

I've been busy as of late and haven't had a lot to post.

I ordered one yesterday after work. We'll see how it functions in the next few weeks. :)

Looks good for smallish hands as well.

Like Mike said, you might consider a CZ-52. Much stronger- but DON'T DRY FIRE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John

I bought 3 hardened-steel firing pins for the CZ52 just because of that caveat.

Absolutely love the round. Lots of zip. Never-jam botttleneck cartridge. A subgun in 7.62x25 would be a blast.

Mike

Oh, yeah. I was just talking about that a day or so ago.

I'd love to make a little semiauto carbine in x25 and 9x23mm.

Hell...I'd love a Glock in 7.62x25mm, too, maybe one on the 34 frame...

A while back they did a poll on one of the gun forums and one of the top wishes was for a modern firearm in 7.62X25.

Although I am not a big fan of Glock something like a Glock, or Beretta or something where you could actually take advantage of the range of the caliber with good trigger pull and visible sights would be great:thumbup:
