I'm pretty exhausted, but I just don't want to go to sleep. Writing half dazed....

So I looked up the forum archives and looked in on the early history of the forum.

I really suggest that new forumites (such as myself) go and take a scan. Start from the beginning. I came onto the scene in 2003 and it's been a great ride. Been on SFI since '98 when it was the old HSG forum. If you add up all the posts I've done in my lifetime on SFI, it'd probably add up to close to the amount that I've posted here in the meer 2 years I've been here! Amazing.

Just goes to show you the type of atmosphere the Cantina has and how precious this place is. Brought this lurker out (that could be construed as a good or bad thing)

Also noted that UB was really active back than. I came around the time he was getting sick. Oh how I WISH I discovered khukuri's back than, maybe even got to know UB better.

Some real veterns here! I new that Ysva and Rusty on a while... but Howard Wallace too! wow! Even saw the post on how Bruise got his first khukuri... CUTE.

I don't know what will become of the Cantina years from now, but I hope in my dear heart... that I find out.

Let's keep the new faces coming, the HIKV spreadin', and HI to live a long and prosperous life.

Nostalgia. Just Plain Cool.

WHO'S WITH ME?? !!!

I like to look at the evolution of trolls on the archives. I call it trollvolution, or trollology. Clever, eh?

Some of them must have had about half a dozen names, going back for many years. One has been coming back since the early, early times, and was just banned again several months ago. Was KRAKEN one of those? I dont remember.

Im sorry if this drags up any bad memories or feelings. I just find it kind of interesting.

definitely part of the forum's history.

BuraFan was one of the most infamous.
Kraken... was that Kendo?

I'm pretty sure that those were the two major nut jobs on the forum.

Yeah, I think it was kraken/kendo. That entity had names going back to the early years. I'm sure someone knows.

Also, if you dont mind me asking, what did Burafan do to get banned way back then? I saw his recent banning, but I never could figure out the original one.

Then of course there was the south american innkeper who kept breaking his khuks.

We've only really had a few.

Burafan - in several incarnations - 6 or 10 of them.

Kendo - also Kraken and Kraken-up

Another banned for posting while drinking. ( edit: make that flat out plastered, drunk as a skunk, and picking fights just because - if you guessed part of his nomme de guerre ((sic?))was "numerical" you guessed right )

Couple of others.

BuraFan went into some odd mental spin whereby he started to come up with completely fabricated stories about himself. Something about being a part of Black Ops Military and performing all these missions.

Than he started taking on names whereby the fantasies just got more and more bizarre.

Than I came around and completely cleaned up this one khukuri town. Yep, I reckon I brought light to the darkness... that is when I retired from my secret life as a superspy and male gigolo.

I'm waiting for Bill the Cat to come 'round...

:D

I think that Sarge deleted the infamous thread about the "Duck" and his hideout in the swamps of Florida. I think it set a record for posts and got too big for the server. THAT was a thread :D

Those were the good ole days...

Actually my first HI product was a katana. The second was a 15" wood handled sirupati. I got a wood handle because Walosi convinced me it was better than horn. Then I got a BAS a day or so after Sept 11, 2001. Still one of my favorite knives. Uncle Bill convinced me that I needed one. :D

A lot of the old Burafan stuff got deleted. But before I got here there was other interesting happenings with khukuri house and such.

Yes...Dan was a mod for a while...and be careful...the Duck is still around!

.

Definitely a lot of great stuff in there worth reading... I went back and caught all of the stuff I missed about a year ago and it was a fun trip down memory lane.

That "Phantom" thread was hilarious. Some of the pics posted by Bill Paxton aka BillTheCat were awesome.

And yes, that loony Duck is still lurking around somewhere. Talk about a NUT CASE!!!! :D

Dave,

Once you've digested all of the Bladeforums archives you might want to go over to the Khukuri Cantina on Knifeforums. That was Bill's first forum on the web. Display all posts and you'll get a lot of stuff dating from 1998. You'll see a lot of familiar people from Bladeforums, as well as some active and now forgotton ones. Warlock6, who popped in here a couple of months ago used to post there as Ghostsix.

Lots of cool stuff there. Did you know khukuris had castes? Ever read a translation of the Blo-sbyong Tsig-brgyad-ma?

Get to digging!
