Hi guys,
I've accumulated a lil bit of money and decided to blow it on a knew nife...err...new knife. :D

I really like the elegant look of the William Henry knives (the lancets are so sexxy) but wanted to look around more.
It'll be an edc for me and the hardest use it will most likely see will be sharpening a pencil (for those days when I, being a stupid college student, forget to bring backup pencils on test day) or opening a few boxes.
I'll still carry my LCC around in my bag for when I need a real worker.
I'd like to keep the blade length under 3".
Do you guys have any suggestions?
I'd like to look at others in the William Henry style...I might even save up for a custom.
OR...should i go get one of those cool D/A Microtech Tactical LCC's :D

Check out the William Henry carbon-fibre T10 Lancet. Light, smooth, great craftsmanship. The new model with gold anodized bits is even better.

If you're on a budget check out CRKT's Titanium Mirage which is a great little framelock (like the sebenza) folder.

Perhaps something from Whitewing? A somewhat more traditional approach than William Henry. Similar price range, with CPM 3V for the blade steel.

I strongly recommend that you check Knife House Hara. These are limited production gents knives made by custom maker Koji Hara and two assistants in Japan. There are two models, the slightly thicker Lakeland and the thinner Polo (similar to the William Henry Lancet in profile). These knives have mother of pearl scales and mirror polished ATS-34 blades. They come with carry clips and have unique jeweled steel liners. Both have blade just under 2.5" and have overal lengths under 6". These are very elegant and sturdy gents knives that I really enjoy. Right now you can pick up even fancier knives with mother of pearl scales and abalone inlays from www.arizonacustomsknives.com and www.knifeart.com. The fancy handle material emphasizes their dressy nature and could actually get you some compliments in circles that are not usually open to knives.

Why not save some of your hard-earned money, and buy a Camillus EDC? That is a very good folder, at a very good price.:).

The idea about the Camillus EDC is a good one.
My first experience with William Henry is a good one.
I bought the Evolution Series in the Wharnecliffe pattern. An excellent knife in nearly every way. I took my jeweler's loupe to it trying to find a flaw and haven't succeeded yet:D
This has really whet my appetite for more WH folders and will in all likelihood bankrupt me.

Oh well....:D

If you are going for carbon fiber, check out the Benchmade 770. You can pick one up for around $100 give or take $5 depending on blade style.

Its got the Axis Lock and great style. I got one for my EDC suit carry and am loving it. Flicks open real easy and has that refined tactical look. It is thin and weighs about 2oz.

Check one out... you'll like it and my save a few bucks.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Right now my plans are to buy a Benchmade 705.
I'm going to take off the G10 scales and replace them with steel or titanium bolsters and carbon fiber scales (kinda like my LCC:D )
Anyone have any scrap titanium large enough for 705 bolsters?

Like the WH lancet, is this one from AG Russell.
AG6-CF Carbon Fiber . . . . . $52.95

See also the Benchmade 690 since its a light use knife. I find it far prettier than the 705, and it also has carbon fiber on it like the LCC, Bonus! Oh yeah, anyone else notice that the wood on the 690 smells kinda funny for a couple days when the knife is new? :)

Fumbler, you sure have a lot of response to your question - I wouldn't have thought otherwise. I carried a 705 for almost a year and still do. For office use I carry a W-H Kestral Amber, very inoffensive. The minute I'm home the WH goes on the shelf and is replaced with the 705. Guess that sums it up!!

Fumbler -- sounds like you've made your choice, and a good one. Still haven't heard anything negative about the 705, unless generic BM QC problems.

Still, wanted to mention a knife I came across when checking out a pobbible trade recently. It's a tad bigger than most of those suggested, but not huge. It's the WH WHS07G -- a Wharncliffe. Sells for $130 at Knife Center. Just an elegant, stout looking gents folder. But, a liner lock, and the 705 has the Axis.

Another suggestion would be the OE Paragee. I like it better than the EDC. It's slimmer, but a tad longer than the EDC. Everything works like glass. Smooth is an operative word. Only negative, is the most amazingly strong little clip that is too tight on mine. I think it is classier looking than the EDC. AUS8, so significantly cheaper than the EDC too. Even than the 420 model.

Before I shut up, if you could use a little FB, check out the Arno Bernard Mini Ivory at Blade Art. So sweet!

Enjoy whatever you choose.
