Hey I have always been in love with katanas. I was looking to purchase one as a decorative piece, but it is important that it functions like a katana should. I have narrowed my choices to the bugei Peace Sword. I have also started looking at items from Dynasty Forge. I wanted to know people's opinions about these. Any input will be appreciated.

If you're considering non-Japan blades, there are lots of good options well within your budget

HSTS Budo or RK, if you can get them.

Higher priced models from Dynasty Forge, Hanwei, and Huawei.

If you're wanting aesthetics, the Hanwei tsukas might not be the best looking, although functionally fine.

I believe Bugei are made by Hanwei, with Bugei specification (design, fittings) and additional quality control. I have a Bugei Bamboo daisho that serves the same purpose you're shopping for.

I actually already ordered The Bugei Peace Sword. It is taking a long time to come and while I'm waiting I have been looking at some katana's from Dynasty Forge. In anyone's opinion, is there any Katana from Dynasty Forge or MAS that outclasses the Peace Sword?

You should look at a Ronin Elite. They start around $830 or so. The blades are shoshukitae laminated from 1095, 1060 and 1045.

I didn't get my Peace Sword for 10 months.

I bought a couple of Hanwei's "regular offerings" to hold me over in the meantime (Bushido and Oni).

I have a like new never cut Bugei Bamboo if your interested
