Im looking at an Eagis but I have no experince with the assisted openers. I like the knife but dont like the idea off taking the blade lock off every time I open it. Is the blade lock needed to keep the knife from opening in your pocket or just a safety measure in case you wanna throw it in yur pack. can somebody gimme a little help here?

I've handled an aegis, own a sog blink and a twitch 2, and many Kershaw/ZT assisted openers. You do not need to engage the safety each time, especially if you carry it tip up in your front pocket such that the blade is resting against the rear or the pocket. The only configuration I'd worry about is a tip down knife with a flipper.

I own several assisted openers (Kershaw Chive and CRKT My Tighe) and have never needed a lock. The Kershaw had one that I used Locktite to perminently disable and the My Tighe doesnt have a lock. At one point I carried both at work and have never seen the need for it. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks guys,

Gonna order tomorrow. Deciding between the Eagis or the Twitch XL. Any extra imput would be appreciated. Im ordering online and Ive never handled either one.

It's not hard to disassemble the knife and remove the safety.

Just have to locktite the pivot point when you put it back together.

I'm not sure about the Aegis, but the Flash II has an RFID tag inside.

I've carried a flash II for over a year now, but I have my eye on a trident now.

an RFID tag? as in a sensormatic anti shoplifting device? (the little white bar)

I love my Aegis. The only downside is that when its in my front pocket, the safety tends to disengage. I haven't had it open in my pocket yet, thankfully.. :o
