I want to buy a BK-16 but can I get the blade clear or does it come just in coated blade? Also what is the best place to purchase the BK16 online?

Besides the secondary market I don't know of a place that sells any Becker without the coating.

With that said it isn't that hard to remove with some paint stripper and a razor blade, maybe some light sanding.

I would not let the coating deter you from buying such a nice knife like the BK-16 because it is so easy to remove.

They come stock with the coating. You might find one on the exchange, but I'd Google search and find the best price. Tomars is pretty good.

The only way to get an uncoated BK16 is to do it your self or get a used one that has been stripped. Citirstrip from walmart works pretty well. Just keep it off your skin.

Per forum rules we can't talk about where to buy knives unless they are a paid supporter of bladeforums. Tomarskabars.com is a pretty popular site, but not always the best price.

Just got my BK16 from Tomar's. Great price, great knife. Still trying to decide if I want to strip it or not.

Reason I ask about the uncoated is I've seen some pictures of the knife uncoated but that must be the user removing it. I like it either way but I want to buy the knife.

I'll check out Tomar's thanks. I really like those custom micarta scales for the extra money but first I want to get a feel for the knife.

It's a popular thing to do. Doesn't serve much purpose other than looks.

Cool avatar ;)

I'm too lazy to strip my 16... just gonna use it for a while till most of the coating wears off.
