I am looking at ordering my first koyote knife (trail knife). Could someone post a couple of pics? Maybe compared to the Alaskan camp knife for reference? Also any feed back on the 8670m steel-how it compares to O1 or 52100?
thanks

This is my trail knife. I got it second hand, and as I understand it has a slightly shorter than normal blade. I have no complaints with the steel.

Keep in mind that Christof can make whatever you want. Go for some sort of crazy Alaskan Trail Knife hybrid or something.

With the convex my trail knife is still a great slicer (use it for food prep all the time with no complaints) even with the 3/16 thickness and I don't worry at all batonning with it.

Why no love for Kydex? Because Koyote's leather sheaths are of a quality and finish that will make you shun molded plastic, and it really doesn't fit with the character of his knives. His leather sheath designs are very functional. There's no way I'd take a kydex sheath over my KG one.

ursusrubrum makes some good kydex on his koyotes..... I'm seriously considering sending a few sgian dubhs off for kydex once I get further caught up with projects.

I love leather overall, true- but kydex has some good applications. and ursusrubrum does keep the simplicity theme :)

I really like the Trail knife model. I have since I read a review in one of the knife mags. I'm going to have to reach out to Mr. Harper about a variation!

Christof is currently making my first KK LBK SERE (alphabet soup, there). Very excited and looking forward to getting my grimy paws on it!

Kydex is fine on some knives but KoyoteGirl's work completes a fantastic bit of work. IMO, Kydex would be an insult in light of the leather goodness coming from this shop.

Dont change a thing, Christof...
