Hello everyone!

I like my GEC 250109 very much. Now I am on look another GEC. Bigger, upto 4½ single blade knife.

235110 would have been perfect but its unavailable thru my channels. 235109ECL is available. Which is Linerlock trapper. How are GEC's liner locks? I am very anal with blade play as soon any lock is involved.

I'm also considering Mini Hunter lockbacks.

I passed my 235110 on and now only have one liner lock. It is the 735109L Tidioute Scout with Mexican Bocote Wood. The liner lock is solid with no blade play.

The 235110 is a really big knife and for my .02¢ is too big to be a comfortable pocket knife.

There's a good thread running in the forum about lockbacks. Have you seen it?

That is one sweet knife. #73's are also in my list. I guess Ideal size would be between 3½ to bit below 4" closed. Its good to know 735109's have no bladeplay (for that price they shouldn't)

i have several gecs with linerlocks, in the mdl 23 at 4.5 in. & the model 73 at 3.75 in.mine are absolutely bank vault. the newer model in 3.75 rocker lock is also very positive. the biggest advantage to the rockerlock other than a slight weight reduction is the fact it is much easier to close one handed. the smaller [3.75] lockback is really plenty of knife for most tasks. i carry the 23 in 4.5 in. on the ranch since we have to slice thru polynet on the 900 lb. 'ton bun' to allow cattle feeding access.dennis

Seems like no matter how I go, I get good knife, excellent :D I think I try to aim something of 3.75" making it more pocketable and Urban friendly... I wish to live in country...

Lookat the #73 Scout or the #72 Lockback. The lockback is just slightly longer than the Scout.

The #66 looks nice. I need to keep my eyes on them. 73's are whispering my name seductively too.

Alright, I've narrowd it down to:
GEC Tidoute 721110 Jigged Bokote Backlock Mini Hunter Beavertails (model available) and GEC Northfield 735109L (Yellow Texas Rose)

I like bit more the blade shape and looks of Yellow rose of texas as regarding it: since liner lock knives has that portruding part, its not bad for ergonomics? It looks like it might be in the way or feel awkward in hand.

thejamppa i have both 72s & 73s with lockback & linerlock respectfully. the linerlock doe'st impede use but little. i love my 72 lockback in jigged bocote, a fact i might mention is the bocote is considerably lighter than the yellow rose. dennis

Are you dead-set on a single blade? If not, I'd suggest taking a look at the Northfield Big Jack.

I think I'll go jack knife for next one, my 3rd GEC ^^

I did look bit reviews and I was sold when I saw review of 735109's. That snap when you open, that half stop, that snap you close it... I was so sold, right after I found my jaw from the floor. Besides the blade shape was better in 73 and I love yellow. Besides Texas is my favorite state with Colorado for some reason. so Texas Yellow Rose it is :D

That big jack looks nice, it could really be my 3rd GEC.

if you have'nt had a yellow rose yet you are in for a treat. the 1st time i opened the box & saw that yellow bone i picked up the phone & ordered another. my brother ordered 3 yellow roses last week. thought about getting every model but the new northfield locks came out & then the abalone in mink skinner . you know how it is , dennis

Thanks Dennis for again great insight. Yeah, the new Northfield locks... Been heard them too but I have to take a step at the time. Yellow Rose for now. :D
