I am looking for a 3.5" to 4.5" fixed blade.
in a kydex sheath
plain edge
not saying no to carbon steels because they are awesome but i am more interested in stainless options this time. i can sacrifice a little cutting power

used for more outdoor edc and light camp chores

i dont need a pry bar because i dont pry open car doors or cut aircraft apart with my blades lol.

i had a gso 4.1 and hate myself for selling it, i had a esee 3 and a i still have a izula and all were very nice. i am interested in maybe dpx gear hest folder even though its smaller than i wanted. im just looking for some lesser known options for me to look into. it always is difficult because i have no local shops to help me narrow it down for me

thanks guys

DPx Gear HEFT 4 with a 4" blade of Niolox Stainless Tool Steel that's 0.19" thick and G10 handles. Comes with a Cordura sheath though. About $100.

Zero Tolerance 0121 with a 4.25" blade of S30V that's 0.19" thick and 3D textured G10 handles. It comes with a nice kydex sheath. About $125.

Fallkniven F1 with a 3.8" blade of VG-10 that's 0.18" thick and Kraton (polymer with good grip) handles. The one with the Zytel Sheath is great for cold weather. About $125.

The AG Russell Deer Hunter was 4" of D2 in a very comfortable package. It also came in AUS-8A which was cheaper, but both were quite affordable and I believe the sheath was some sort of plastic quick-release style.

You could consider one of the Spyderco Mule Team itterations, as there are plenty of handle and sheath options available online, and you can choose the steel.

Maybe the Fallkniven F1. You'd have to get an after-market sheath but I've seen them on auction sites before.

Spyderco Moran is another option, or check out Michael Morris Knives and get a very affordable custom knife.

Entrek has a few in that size range. I have an Entrek Cobra, four inch blade, 440c stainless steel, full-tang, clip-point, 3/16" thick, micarta handles, and made in the USA by a really good guy (if that matters to you).

EDIT- Damn! I just noticed that the Cobra is now being sold for around $200. I'm glad I got mine when they were $135.

Checkout the 4.25" Buck 192 Vanguard in 420HC, leather sheath, and Dymondwood-like handle - or 692 with a nylon sheath and rubber handle, an 'all weather' variant. It has a brass finger guard and pommel, too. Cabela's had an S30v variant in their 'Alaskan Guide' series. Great handfit to my medium+ sized hands. Search the Buck sub-forum here for more info. The knife is made in the USA, too.

If prying is off the table then a mora really is the best option. Comfy handle, good edge holding, easy to sharpen and it's extremely lightweight for what it can do.

i own a lite my fire mora and its great around the camp site, but i was looking something a little more edc friendly when im not out in the woods.

the mora just doesnt fit in my pocket too well.

i am however really liking the Fallkniven F1 and then pick up a kydex sheath for it. its a vg10 core with a 420 stainless coating correct?

I'd put in my vote for the fallkniven F1. I've had mine for 5+years and its done absolutely everything that a small "bushcraft" style blade could be expected to do, and done it all very well. great edge holding, easy to resharpen and tough as all outdoors.

Might be worth hunting around for a Spyderco mule in what ever steel you prefer or check the maker exchange. Big Chris has been doing some nice knives that fit your need.

here is Entrek Cobra, four inch blade, 440c stainless steel.. Cheapest I've seen it.

Watch talking about the cost of stuff outside of knife maker forums . They don't like it around here !!!!

There's no rule on Bladeforums that says we can't say how much a knife costs (in fact, it's a very reasonable and often spoken of subject). There is a rule that says you can't ask "How much is my knife worth?" unless you are a gold member, but that is a totally different thing. :)

Check out scrapyard knives and swamp rat knives. Not stainless but just get a coated blade. They will last you forever.

Benchmade Bone Collector Fixed. Few options to choose from. All in D2 with wood or G10 handles.
I don't have any, but they seem to be nice knives.
