I am looking for suggestions on a 4", flat ground, drop point, fixed blade knife. I could get in to weight, handle material, sheath and blade steal as well but I don't want to get too specific as I would like to keep some of my options open until I see some suggestions. I do know that the must-have qualities in the knife I am looking for will be:

Approximately 4" Blade
Flat Grind (the higher the better)
Drop Point or Modified Drop Point Blade Shape
Fixed Blade

This knife may serve as a hunting, fishing, hiking, camping knife, and may serve as daily EDC as well. I have a picture in my mind of something like a Fallkniven F1 except with a flat grind rather than the full convex grind that comes on the F1.

Thanks!

You'll probably want an aftermarket sheath.

Try one of these:

Above are two Benchmade 190 drop-point hunting knives, 440c stainless, slightly-less-than 4 inch flat-ground blades.

Above is a Grohmann large camper with a 4 inch flat-ground blade in stainless.

Above are Cold Steel master hunters, 4.5 inch flat-ground blades, carbon steel.

Above is the SOG hunter revolver, 4.75 inch flat-ground blade, AUS-8 stainless.

Above is the SOG Northwest Ranger, 5 inch flat-ground blade, AUS-6 stainless, and in my opinion the best production "hunting" knife.

These are all the production flat-ground hunting blades that I know of. Hope it helps.

Northwood Knives Willow Leaf

Blade Length: 4”
Blade Steel: D2
Blade Thickness: 0.210"
Overall Length: 8 1/8"
Handle Material: Cocobolo
Weight: 4.7 oz, without the sheath
Sheath: Heavy leather with stone pouch and stone

I think it's a great looking fixed blade hunter, and it seems to meet all of your specifications. It even has a stone for touching it up in the field right in the sheath. I intend to pick a Micarta handled one up, myself.

The Northwoods Willow Leaf is a great knife. I’ve got two of them: micarta handle, and Cocobolo handle.

Spyderco Moran, nice and lightweight with a pretty good stock sheath.

Also check out Bark River knives.

An old style Buck Strider Solution is a good choice, if you can still find one. Good luck!

I was going to suggest a little something, something from Bob Dozier!!! His stuff is awesome!!

I would also recommend the Northwoods Willow Leaf with the D2 blade.

Recently got one with the green micarta handle and it's absolutely awesome!
(Love the sheath with the sharpening stone, too!)

Give the good folks at McKnight Cutlery a buzz for one (where I got mine):

Now, if only one could be made with stacked leather washer handle and a duraluminum buttcap... *drool*

Cheers,
Mike
