BK9
kershaw outcast
ontario SP line has a few
SY dogfather

Spyderco Jerry Hossom Forester. I own one. It's a beast, yet surprisingly agile in the hand.

ontario sp10 cold steel recon scout and becker bk9 i have all three and an rtak 2 these are basically indistructable for around 100 bucks plus or minus

Blades are pretty plentiful in the range of 5-7 1/2 but not many in 8-9" category. At 9 1/2" I would rate CS Trail Master best bang for the buck.

I have seen the Spyderco Hossums at a substantial discount here lately after they were discontinued. Now would be the time to get one if the OP decides that what he wants.

Thanks for the tip, elkins45. I had no idea that the Hossoms were discontinued. While I prefer non-stainless steel for choppers, the Spyderco Hossoms are excellent blades. And the prices I'm seeing for them right now make them affordable for the first time. In fact, the current Hossom prices are the best I've seen on N690Co fixed blades since Benchmade first introduced their Rant series. My Dayhiker is on the way! :)

I'd also have to give a big thumbs-up to the Becker BK-9 and, of course, the Ontario Ranger RD-9. Justin Gingrich really knows how to design tough knives.

For under $200 the Cold Steel Trail Master SK-5, Recon Scout SK-5, or SRK. :)

Spend the next few hours over in the Makers for sale section. I would bet you will find something that fits your tastes quite easily. Unless you like fantasy knives.

Great idea. I was going to say Koyote...I don't know how much his big 'uns are, but they look S-W-E-E-T!
