Looking for a backup EDC

So I have a BM 943 as my EDC knife of choice (love this knife) and a paramilitary 2. The PM2 is new but probably won't be replacing the BM as my EDC simply because of how much bigger it is and how it tears up my jeans. I was looking for a backup knife for the BM to have in case SHTF. The main problem I have with the Paramilitary is that it is so grippy it is hard to remove from my pants and deploy quickly. The BM always rides front right pocket (I'm right handed) so this would either be in my back pocket, on my neck, or on my belt. I was thinking about either sanding the grip down near the clip on the PM2 and just keeping that in my back pocket, or trading it out for something like a streetbeat or a p'kal. I'm also considering a ritter grip, zt0350, etc. I also just kinda want a new knife thats fun (and maybe a little different, it seems as though everyone and their brother has a PM2...which might be a testament to how good it is?)

Should I trade it out, or just keep it and stop complaining about having such an awesome knife?

The 0350 is great. But if you don't like the roughness and tight clip on the pm2 you will absolutely HATE it on the 0350. The clip on the 0350 is substantially tighter than the clip on the pm2 and the g10 is equally rough.

You could always add a short laynard, fob?, to the PM and that would help you in retrieving the knife from your pocket, same is true for the ZT. One thing I do is cover my clips with black 3M Stair Step tape that has the feel of sandpaper. It allows me to get a firm grip with my forefinger when taking my knife out of my pocket. These are two easy, and inexpensive ways to make better use of the PM2, but if you really want a new knife to play around with, then maybe trade the PM2 and get what you want.

I'd find a way to get the knife you think you want first - then evaluate it. If it turns out to be a turkey, at least you'll still have your well-liked original knives. There is nothing more insidious than experiencing buyer's remorse after you traded/sold an old friend to fund the errant purchase.

PS Misery loves company... I seem to have acquired a stash of knives since I adopted my suggestion!

I'm not a huge fan of the ZT0350. I've got one sitting in my collection that never gets used. I never bought a Para 2 for the same reasons you don't carry yours. The two that I do carry on a regular basis are my Ritter Grip (made custom G10 scales for it), and my HTM DDR Gun Hammer. It's a considerable step up in price from the others, but after getting it, I don't really have any urge to buy any more folding knives, unless it's a full custom DDR Gun Hammer with moku-ti framelock and his new M390/Chad Nichols Damascus san mai.

It would be utter madness to sell the PM2 imo. I just got mine yesterday and instantly can see what all the fuss is about. If you are talking about a true SHTF situation then you might be better served looking for a good solid fixed blade knife such as the Becker BK-2, an ESEE 4/5/6, Fallkniven F1/S1 or similar.
