I had a benchmade for the longest but I lost it. Could someone help me articulate what I'm looking for.

The blade of the knife I had was a lot like the first production Pika but the handle was different.
  • little circles composed the texture of the grip
  • the thumbhole was perfectly round, not oval
  • the lock release button was smooth
  • the blade was also smooth

The blade was like this but the grip was entirely different. The blade didn't have the little hook at the base.

I think the knife you're referring to is an older 'Bali-Song marked' Ascent series. The Bali-Song on these is inside the Butterfly. The one I have, which is an 830s matches your descripition.

Hope that helps.

...and I see I was beat to the answer by gmarthur.

No. The 'Benchmade USA' mark is to the left of the hole on the blade and underneath the butterfly. The blade on mine is also marked 'ATS-34' to the upper right of the hole.

Mine was purchased new for $55 and these models are a good buy with a simple lock-back mechanism, FRN scales and a sharp 3.25" blade. I believe the same blade was used in Benchmade's AFCK series...

Hope that helps.

It says bali-song inside of the butterfly. It will say benchmade usa below the butterfly.

Nope! Not me! Lost connection? Sorry. I remember this knife was almost $60 new and I can't remember the bali-song mark but I'll keep my eye out.
