I was about to get a Busse TGLB, but then I saw some of the larger fixed blades that Grayman offers. What other high quality large fixed blades should I look at?

The BRKT STS-8 is a nice one and a powerful chopper. The Fox Combat Jungle is also a nice one.

Scott Gossman here on the forums makes a great chopper in the Big Boar Tusker and you can have it made to order, in any size you want.

All the knives mentioned above would be a good choice.....also take a look at the Becker BK9.

I already have 3 ESEE knives so I am looking for something different, even though I love the ESEE brand. BRKT looks a little too "gentlemanly" for my tastes. I just remembered that Chris Reeve makes some nice fixed blades as well. Any feedback from owners of Busse TGLB, CRK Pacific or Green Beret, Grayman Warrior, or Spartan Horkos?

Condor Boomslang. Excellent quality hc steel chopper with Mircata and under $100 with a beautiful leather sheath. For the price, and even regardless of it, hard to find a nicer knife value!

The TGLB is well worth picking up while they're available to order from the shop; prices will shoot up once they're only available on the aftermarket. Mine arrived a month or so back and has become my favourite all-around fixed blade by a mile. It slices surprisingly well in the kitchen and will laugh at anything you can think of throwing at it in the outdoors.

Mine is a competition finish with green/black G10 grips.

Any idea how much longer it will be offered? I don't know if I can buy it for another month or so

Nope, Jerry Busse is the only fella who knows when they'll be replaced. That said, there is always an announcement made ahead of time so folks can get their last minute orders in so keep an eye on their forum in the meantime. If you place an order online or by phone then it will take 6-10 weeks from that time until it's ready to ship so you can put your order in now and won't have to worry about paying for a bit yet. Once your order is ready to go then one of the extremely helpful Busse ladies will send you an email with an invoice to pay and, once its paid, your blade ships. Remember to factor in a sheath for it too, but there are many makers of reasonably priced kydex and leather sheaths that post on the Busse forum.

Thank you so much for the info. I've never owned a Busse before. I was going to get a Spec Ops Combat Master sheath because of multiple carry options and the included accessory pouch. I'll be sure to place my order in the next week or two then.

The bk9 is one heck of a blade for the money....want something not so big, bk7 is a great knife too.....i beat the hell out of my 9 daily on a farm...and it asks for more.

Glad to help mate. Unlike many of the helpful hogs on the Busse subforum I haven't owned many Busse's and, at the moment, own just an Active Duty and the TGLB from them. That said, both knives are the two best fixed blades I have ever owned, hands down. The customer service, community, and top-notch warranty are some of the perks too.
