Looking for a plain blaze orange bandana.
Did an internet search with no luck.
Anybody know of a source for one?

Check a local hunting store. Especially one of the bigger warehouse types (such as Sportsmans Warehouse). You should be able to find them there.

There is one with survival insrtrutions on it but I can not remember where I seen it on the net though. Anybody else?

Buy a white one and a package of fabric dye in the brightest orange available, dye it at home if nothing else.

Here is a great source:

You can by one-at-a-time, per the dozen (12), or by the case (50).

Take note that the regular orange bandana (imported I assume) is 100% cotton, but the American-made orange bandana is poly-cotton. A few years back I purchased some of each from this site and I found the American-made poly-cotton bandanas to be much brighter than the import ones, BUT the 100% cotton feels much better if used as a sweat rag or tied around your neck. I suspect the poly-cotton would dry a bit faster, but I haven't experimented with that. Both bandanas had similar quality as far as material thickness and edging.

Go cheap. Just buy the fabric from Wallyworld or similar and cut it yourself.

And go big those ity bity bandannas are a Little limited. If you have a big noggin they wont even cover your head well. A 45" square will have many more uses, like as a sling or a shemagh.

The site I listed has bandanas has 14", 18", 22", and 27" bandanas. A 45" bandana sounds kind of big ... verging on a small tarp. :-)

Home-made bandanas wouldn't be as easy as it sounds. The unusual edging on most bandanas isn't something a typical sewing machine can do. In my view adding a 1/4" rolled seam as a home-made edging would add an unwelcomed amount of thickness to the bandana.

I like the survival bandana at tadgear. I could fold it so it says SURVIVAL on my forehead in case anyone I encounter in the woods is wondering what I'm doing out there.
:D

A 45" square is big, but check out this other thread. I'm not fond of the Palestine look but that 45" square has a lot of uses. I have been wearing a banana on my head since I discovered I couldn't get my hat brim out of the way of my bow string. 25+ years. This is a case of bigger is better. In an emergency you could rip it in half, use one side to make a cord to use on your fire bow while the other side was keeping the sun off your head, and the list goes on.

try edcdepot.com, they got the orange bandanna with survival instructions for cheap.
